Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin.  On the faded Island Books sign hanging over the porch of the Victorian cottage is the motto "No Man Is an Island; Every Book Is a World." A. J. Fikry, the irascible owner, is about to discover just what that truly means.  This enchanting novel is an unforgettable tale of transformation and second chances, and a love letter to the world of books - an affirmation of why we read, and why we love.  Come for the chat whether or not you've read the book.

Want to read ahead?  August's book will be Whisper Hollow by Chris Candler.

News from Members

MCC member Patty Connelly shared this article in the Basilica's Spring magazine highlighting MCC member Delia Bujold's service as a trustee since 2006.

Do you love the Mississippi River?  MCC member Merle Minda suggests you submit an entry into the Mississippi Minute Film Festival.  The idea is to inspire, inform, and energize others into action by creating a 60 second film that showcases an appreciation for - or future potential of - the Minneapolis riverfront!  For details, click here.

MCC members Peggy Lucas and Ellie Hands are looking for a few members to be substitute volunteers during the National Senior Games.  These volunteers would only be called on if another member isn't able to make it to their shift (advance notice would be given).  If you'll be in town for part or all of the Senior Games July 3-15 and could possibly help during the 11:00 am-3:00 pm shift, please email Mary Texidor.
