Rendezvous Readers' Book Chat
Wednesday, June 3, 9:30 - 10:30 am
Guthrie Theater Level 5 Express, 818 S 2nd St

Join us to discuss The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri.  This novel is a family saga steeped in history: the story of two very different brothers bound by tragedy, a fiercely brilliant woman haunted by her past and a country torn apart by revolution.  Moving from the 1960s to the present, and from India to America and across generations, the story explores the price of idealism and a love that can last long past death.

Get started now:  July's book will be The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabriel Zevin (subject to change).  Have a book suggestion for the Book Chat?  Email Barbara Goldner.

MCC members and guests.  No reservations required.

Technology Workshop: New Ways to Watch TV
Thursday, June 4, 3:00 - 4:30 pm
American Academy of Neurology, 201 Chicago Ave, Training Room A
Online video streaming technology has given us a plethora of new ways to watch TV. Unfortunately, the options, while exciting, can be a bit confusing and overwhelming.  But it would be even more unfortunate to get "left in the dust" with a clunky cable package that's expensive and not well suited to your watching preferences.  Come learn about Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Slingbox, and more. Brian Roemen from Backpack Tactics will lead this informative workshop.  Please note: space is limited.

Great Decisions: Syria's Refugee Crisis
Monday, June 8, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
The Towers Garden Room, 15 S 1st St

Syrians have for a century welcomed over a million refugees from Armenia, Palestine, Iraq and other countries around the region. Now, thanks to a multiyear civil war, they are on track to become the source of the world's largest refugee population in a matter of months.  As their neighbors strive to accommodate the millions of Syrian refugees, the risk of allowing Syrians to become dependent on emergency aid and forming a "lost generation" remains.  Hosted by Sonia and John Cairns at the Towers Garden Room.

Sorry, not open to guests; to join the MCC Great Decisions Discussion Group, email the MCC office at info@millcitycommons.org.  Registration on the MCC website is required for Great Decisions members.
