Executive Director Update

Welcome winter (a little early...)! Due to yesterday's winter storm warning, we moved the November Great Decisions program to the 17th. You'll find details below. If/when weather looks like it might be dangerous for travel, please check the website to see if we have canceled that day/evening's program. In addition, we will send out an email to all registered members if we do indeed cancel an event. Although the blast of cold is a little early, the snow brightens up a gray November landscape! Stay warm!!  -- Linnea

Great Decisions
Monday, November 17, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Winslow House Party Room, 100 Second Street SE
This month's Great Decisions Discussion Group will respond to the chapter on Israel and the U.S.  Modern Israel's struggles with the Palestinians have turned what was meant as a safe haven for Jews into the center of a decades-long conflict.  The U.S. has stepped in as Israel's ally due to the two countries' shared values, providing years of unparalleled military and diplomatic support.  But now those ties are being tested.  This month's speaker is Henry Berman, a retired associate of Ecolab Inc. in St Paul, where he had a 34 year career, working in both domestic and global markets.  He has strong personal ties to the Middle East and is a frequent visitor to the Region.  He is particularly interested in the politics of this volatile area.  This event is for members who have signed up for Great Decisions 2014 and is co-hosted by Pamela and Robert Berkwitz and Carol and Bud Hayden.
