Executive Director Update

We launched our Sixth Annual Turkey, Dressings and Extra Helpings Holiday Food and Clothing Drive this past Friday. Many thanks to MCC Members Delia and Tyrone Bujold for starting this wonderful tradition of raising money to provide groceries for our neighbors in North Minneapolis and clothing and gifts for the homeless. The groceries are delivered at a time when children are home from school and many families struggle to provide healthy meals. The groceries we provide through your generous donations include staples that help feed the family for a week. For details, please use this link. Thank you! -- Linnea

Eyebobs, 1401 Glenwood Avenue - Please enter through the front door
When Julie Allinson found herself in need of reading glasses, her distinctive style left her with a strong aversion to cheap drugstore readers, and the designer frames seemed outlandishly expensive. Out of this perceived need, Julie founded Eyebobs in 2001. Join us as Julie gives us a tour of her unique business and answers our questions. She will discuss the entrepreneurial start-up of Eyebobs and the partnerships she developed as well as her business perspectives that have led to the success of this fashion-conscious business.

Mill City Commons

In the Know!

Hi, my name is Mary Texidor and I am the new Program Coordinator/ Administrative Assistant for Mill City Commons. My background is in public health and social work, where I've held positions in the non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors.

I was very interested in joining Mill City Commons because I love the "aging in place" model. I was fortunate to watch my grandparents age in place until they passed away in their late 90s, in good health and still active in their communities. I hope to help my Dad do the same by convincing him to move to the area and join MCC!

My husband and I moved to South Minneapolis from Philadelphia this summer. We love to bike, walk our golden lab around the lakes, and look forward to trying out snowshoeing this year! We are expecting our first baby in early February.

I will typically be in the office from 10 am - 2 pm Monday through Friday so please stop by so we can meet face-to-face.
