Executive Director Update

We just learned this week that the Guthrie has changed their daytime hours and will no longer be open early mornings. Therefore, we are moving tomorrow's Rendezvous Readers Book Chat to JJ's Coffee at Open Book, 1011 Washington Avenue South. We will be scoping out best locations for our future Rendezvous on 5 gatherings -- Open Book is one we will be considering. Please let me know if you have a suggestion!

It's not too late to join me at Interact Center for an MCC Nosy Neighbor Tour. You'll find details below.

In the Know!

Merriam Webster defines "paintress" as an archaic word for a female painter. But MCC member Sabina Sten has a much more modern and descriptive definition. Here is Sabina's story in her own words.

"As some of you know, I am moving to a small apartment at RiverWest for a while. The apartment was painted in blue walls, making it a dark space facing north, albeit on the river side. A 'paintress' was recommended to me - Linda Theisen. She sounded full of energy on the phone and turned out to be that plus a neat person; equally important, she used her magic to brighten up the apartment to a degree I never imagined possible. She worked hard, thoroughly, and focused on quality - moving washer and dryer out to deal with an indescribable mess under and behind, not to mention on the sides of the machines. Every night I received a phone call with an update on her progress. She offered lots of little extras which made the whole job an outstanding one."

Sabina's story comes amid tough times and big challenges. She lost her husband, John, last year. A wise beyond her years girl named Hannah Cheatem advises, "If you're feeling blue try painting yourself a different color." Thanks, Sabina, for doing that, both literally and figuratively. And thanks for taking the time to recommend that very special paintress who helped you.
