Many thanks to Jeanne for offering to take on this column that will provide a forum for members to share their favorite neighborhood businesses, services and other resources. Please see her description and request for your experiences in the "In the Know!" column to the right.
If you'd like to get more involved with Mill City Commons programming or communications, please let me know. It's a great way to meet your neighbors. Thanks!     -- Linnea
MCC Author Celebration: Judy Healey
Tuesday, August 13, 4:00-5:30pm
Washburn Lofts Community Rom, 700 South 2nd Street
Join fellow members for an exclusive reading of Frederick Weyerhaeuser and the AmericWeyerhaeuseran West. Judy will share information about the book, how it came about, where she found resources (attics on Cape Cod, attics in Saulheim, Germany, archives in office towers in Seattle, and corporate offices in Tacoma, newspaper articles in Rock Island, Ill, etc.) and how it felt to have letters in her hand that were written 150 years ago etc. A character emerges from these various resources and Judy will read (mostly letters) that illustrate what kind of man he was, what he faced in his life, his strengths and weaknesses, and his relationships with kids and grandchildren. Expect a biography-newsy talk, interspersed with lots of short reading clips.

Mill City Commons

In the Know!

Have you found a wonderful service, business or person that you value? Don't keep it a secret, the MCC community needs to hear from you! We need your help with stories of excellence. Tell us about your experiences. The careful painter who included a little extra touch up, the decorator or travel agent who really listened to your needs, or maybe you enjoy the cheerful attention you get at the new business that opened down the street. Any person, place, or thing that needs telling about. To share your good experiences with the MCC community, please email them to info@millcitycommons.org. Your stories will appear in this Mill City Musings newsletter. Members can read a positive story, help each other find good resources, and give a boost to the services, people and businesses we describe. Watch this space for the useful, the informative, or maybe the surprising suggestions of MCC members.  Next week features Peg Kavaney's inspiring endorsement.
