Executive Director Update

Take me out to the ball game!!! MCC Member Allan Burdick has made arrangements for group tickets to a Twins game August 13th against the Cleveland Indians. To get the group rate of $23, we must have a minimum of 25 members and guests registered through MCC no later than Monday, July 22. You'll find details below. This is a very fun way to connect with other members and introduce potential members to Mill City Commons. The block can expand to 40, so invite family and friends! Allan has invited his neighbors at the Cobalt. You'll also find the August calendar as a link under MCC Upcoming Events.

Thank you, MCC Member Carol Vantine, for helping put this newsletter together! And for working with me and Patti the last few weeks to create "desk procedures" for the Program Coordinator position. We'll be posting that position mid August. Thanks!  -- Linnea

Madams: The Lost History of Prostitution
Sunday, July 21, 1:00 - 2:30 pm;
Meet across the street from 212 11th Avenue South (near Gold Medal Park)

This bicycle tour will explore the three openly-operated red-light districts that existed from the 1870s to 1910 along the central riverfront of Minneapolis. You'll learn why tolerated prostitution was such a thriving industry in the city, why some women might have chosen it as a career, how a small group of madams came to influence civic life, and how they left their mark on the city's landscape as we view the last surviving purpose-built bordello from the city's era of tolerated prostitution. We will bike about 5 miles on this tour. A limited number of complimentary tickets are available for members who register on the MCC website.
