Did You Know?

Volunteering is good for you! In addition to using your time and talents to help others, volunteering provides opportunities for social interaction and is good for your health. In a recent study highlighted by MedlinePlus, study participants who volunteered at least 200 hours per year were found to be 40% less likely to have high blood pressure than non-volunteers, regardless of the type of volunteer work. Approximately 65 million Americans live with high blood pressure, which contributes to cardiovascular disease. Volunteering may be an excellent way to prevent high blood pressure, maintain or create social connections and help others. Consider volunteering through Mill City Commons or other organizations--it's good for you!
