Guthrie Play Reading: Clybourne Park
Tuesday, June 4, 6:30 - 9:30 pm;
Guthrie Livingston Conference Room, 818 South Second Street
Clybourne Park begins in 1959 as a black family moves into a white neighborhood in north Chicago, and in Act Two takes us to the same house in 2009 as gentrification sets in and the roles are reversed. Jokes fly and hidden agendas unfold as two generations tiptoe through social politics, pitting race against real estate. A Guthrie dramaturg assigns parts.
