Caffeine and camaraderie for the male members of MCC! This group meets every other Thursday at Nicollet Island Inn and is hosted by various members who get the conversation going. Dick Olson has invited Eric Schubert, VP of Communications and Public Affairs at Ecumen, to speak. Eric will offer a provocative preview of some of the latest strategies for an aging Minnesota and will talk about Ecumen's latest innovations -- both ones they are exploring and ones they have launched.

Join us to discuss Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernières. In this novel, the author creates a world, populates it with characters as real as our best friends, and launches it into the maelstrom of twentieth-century history. The setting is a small village in southwestern Anatolia in the waning years of the Ottoman Empire. Corinne Larson starts the conversation. This adventure requires no reservations!

Great Decisions Discussion Group

The Great Decisions Discussion Group is centered on the Great Decisions briefing book developed by the Foreign Policy Association. This well researched annual publication provides eight timely global topics to be read by group participants prior to each session. This month's topic: Iran. Suspicion and a troubled history have blighted U.S.-Iranian relations for three decades. How can the United States and Iran move forward? Is the existence of Iran's nuclear program an insurmountable obstacle? Bud and Carol Hayden host.

Guthrie Theater: Celebrating 50 Years

Join us for an informal gathering over wine and hors d'oeuvres featuring special guest, Sally Wingert, whose career on the Guthrie stage spans more than 75 productions. As cohost of BEHOLD, the Guthrie's 50th anniversary gala performance on June 22, Sally will share her experiences from her life as an actor with the renowned theater and details about the exciting 50th celebration to come. Kathy and Allen Lenzmeier and Mary and Tom Racciatti cohost this MCC event.

MCC Member Karla Ekdahl wants you to know about the 2013 Minneapolis St. Paul 

International Film Festival, April 11-28, at the St. Anthony Main Theatre.  The Festival launches on Thursday, April 11 with a special screening of the newest of Ken Loach's jewels, 
The Angels' Share.  
Tickets go on sale April 1st.  This must-see film by England's leading filmmaker will sell out quickly so get there early.  The Festival continues over two weeks, presenting an exciting slate of 185 films from some 60

The Bakken Trio 
The Bakken Trio is pleased to announce its final program of the season,  
"The Exuberance of Youth", on Sunday, April 7 at 4:00 pm at MacPhail Center for Music, 501 S. 2nd Street. The program highlights music written by composers, Schubert, Rossini and Enescu, in the springtime of their careers. The Bakken Trio will present the winning ensemble from the 2013 SPCO Youth Chamber Competition at MacPhail at 3:30 pm prior to the Bakken's 4:00 pm performance on April 7.  To purchase tickets, click here.

Vital Aging Network's Mayday Celebration

 Here are seven tips to improve your memory from the Mayo Clinic:

1.    Stay mentally active by reading, volunteering and learning new things.

2.    Socialize regularly to ward off depression and stress which can contribute to memory loss.

3.    Get organized by noting your tasks and appointments in a planner or calendar and keep your wallet, keys, etc. in a specific place.

4.    Limit distractions and focus to improve recall.

5.    Eat a heart-healthy diet, drink plenty of water and limit alcohol consumption.

6.    Incorporate physical activity into your daily life.

7.    Manage your chronic conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and depression and review your medications with your doctor.

This alignment-based class is held at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis, 212 3rd Ave N., Suite 205.
