Executive Director Update
Program Coordinator Patti Ries continues to update the MCC Vendor Directory with member recommendations. Please use the "User Ratings and Reviews" to share your experience or learn from other members. A reminder that we must have two recommendations in a category before we can list it. We've received two member ratings for Network Guidance 2.0 since we added them to the Tech Support list. They have created a phone number just for MCC members -- when you call, you know you've reached a qualified and reliable team of tech savvy helpdesk analysts.
Another timely MCC Vendor is the Residence Inn at The Depot. We have negotiated a discount for multiple night stays -- great if you have visitors from out of town and not enough room in your loft. You'll find contact information on the members only website.
Don't forget that Thursday is Give to the Max Day. Please consider supporting Mill City Commons with a donation. Our Board of Directors has committed a $2300 challenge grant to help MCC "Prepare for the Future". Please visit our project page on GiveMN.org to make a donation. Thank you in advance for your support of MCC! -- Linnea

A note from Patti Ries, Mill City Commons
Program Coordinator
Did You Know?
Our next Healthy Village series, Journeywell III, will be held on November 15th. Join your fellow Mill City Commons members for table discussions on "How Do I Make My Life More Meaningful?" Trish Herbert, author of Journeywell: A Guide to Quality Aging, tells us that "in order to find life meaningful, it is important to believe that our later years are as valuable as our earlier ones. It is a time of continued growth and can be a time of great deepening. It is important to affirm this later stage of life and encourage the accompanying ways of thinking and being that promote self-appreciation. A major hindrance to positive aging is continuing to equate only paid work with self-worth thus diminishing the value of worthy avocations such as reading, traveling, volunteering, and caregiving, or the small but mighty deeds like being kind to your next-door neighbor. Life is likely to become meaningless and empty for those who can't expand their thinking about what constitutes basic self-worth." As we age, we are given the opportunity to reflect on the value of our lives and better understand what is really meaningful. New paths open for us as we use our gifts and talents in new ways to bring meaning and purpose to our lives and the lives of others.
