I scheduled my donation today for Give to the Max Day! Cantus Open Rehearsal
Tuesday, November 6, 5:00-6:00 pm;
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Avenue S.
Come and sit in on a Cantus rehearsal! Men's vocal ensemble, Cantus, is unique among most vocal or choral ensembles as the members rehearse and perform without a music director. This collaborative work style allows Cantus to be flexible, adaptive and ready to embrace new ideas that come from any member of the group. You'll have a chance to watch the Cantus rehearsal process up close and at the end of the hour, the singers take a break for introductions and questions. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early at Westminster and meet at the information desk, which is located on the southeast side of the first floor, off Marquette. Parking is available on the street or in the Orchestra Hall lot.

A note from Patti Ries, Mill City Commons
Program Coordinator
Did You Know?
The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation recently conducted a study entitled Caregiving in Context. Informal caregiving by family, friends, and community members is a crucial component of the aging network. The demand for informal caregivers is expected to increase in the coming years and in 2011, the nationwide economic value of informal caregiving was estimated at $306 billion per year (University of Minnesota Extension). Caregivers themselves need support so they can effectively continue in their caregiving role. Findings from the Caregiving in Context study indicate that "when caregivers are able to build informal support networks- especially ones that include family members as well as friends, neighbors, or others-they may be able to reduce their stress and spend less time providing care, which could enable them to remain in and enjoy their caregiving role more." Reach out and support the caregivers around you! Click here to read more about the Wilder Research study.
