WUOT Fall Fund Drive a Success!

Thanks to YOU, WUOT's fall fund drive reached the overall goal for the week!

If you haven't pledged yet, it's not too late: Visit WUOT's website to donate to the public radio station that gives you amazing programming every day of the year. It's also not too late to ask for a thank-you gift if your donation qualifies for one, AND you can count your donation as part of your end-of-year, tax-deductible charitable gifts!

Volunteer Eric McAnly shows off his packing prowess.
WUOT could not have successful drives without tremendous support from our members, volunteers and community partners. Thank you to the 112 volunteers who generously donated their time to help us with everything from answering phones, running tallies, and picking up food, as well as the volunteers who will help mail reminders and thank-you gifts in the weeks to come.

Thanks also go to our community partners:  Aubrey's, Cruze Farm DairyGood Golly Tamale, Holly's Eventful Dining, The Tomato Head and Three Rivers Market. And it just wouldn't be a fund drive without Access America, which donated a toll-free phone line to make it easier for listeners outside of the Knoxville area to call in.

On Pet Pledge Day Wednesday, you exceeded the goal of 400 pledges! Dream Katcher Lodge will donate $1,000 to Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee (HABIT) AND $1,000 to WUOT! HABIT will use the donation to buy a logoed tent, tablecloth and banner so it can better promote its services and increase its volunteers to reach even more people in need.Thank you! In other news, dogs won by a whopping 453 to the cats' 369. Better luck next drive, cat lovers.

You came through again on Friday, exceeding the 400-pledge goal on
Community Partnership Day!  Thanks to YOU, Avison Young will donate $3,000 to Ijams Nature Center so it can update and improve Mead's Quarry. Ijams partners with River Sports Outfitters to entertain and educate children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley in Ijams' Getting Kids Outdoors camps. Part of Avison Young's donation will be used to expand the current dock so even more children can discover the natural world.

But that's not all: In the spring of 2016, Ijams will launch a new program called Adaptive Paddling, which will allow people with physical challenges, including brain injuries, to enjoy paddling and other water activities. Part of the donation will be used to purchase equipment such as special padding for kayaks as well as improve the landscaping to improve wheelchair accessibility and boat transfers.

We also were fortunate to have generous challenges from members Kevin and Samantha Pack of Runners Market, Mike from Knoxville, Jenny Hines and Tom Jester, Jeff Mellor and Doris Gove, Rebekah Everett, Dr. Hnilica and The Itch Clinic, Talissa and Kurt, Sara Orellana and the WUOT 91.9 Inc. Board.

Each time WUOT has a fund drive, we are humbled by and so thankful for the generous individuals and organizations that make this station possible. We are proud to serve you. Thank you, everyone!
