A soft glowing light illuminates the bright hues of fall leaves, and a brisk chill in the air signals that the season is here and in full swing.
Just as the trees prepare for the coming winter hibernation with a fiery display of color, we too have some changes we would like to share with you.
Said Confucius, "they must often change, those who would be constant in happiness or wisdom," words which could almost be a mantra here at Magnolia Gift and Garden.
We've been working hard all through this year to bring in fresh, beautiful sights and innovations, our newest of which is our remodeled gift shop. If you are thinking "what gift shop?" don't worry you aren't the only one who didn't notice it, tucked away as it was into a dark building behind the registers. The many bright plants, books, and gardening knick-knacks were kept in shadows and weren't given the attention they deserved. "We put a hole in the wall so people could see we had a gift shop!" quipped an employee recently.

Of course, we didn't stop there, and over the last two months we have been hard at work transforming the cave-like little place into an open, airy, well lit and rustic sort of building that invites a stroll inside. We are still in the process of completing final touches, including a citrus filled green house right behind it, connected by a doorway. Some highlights include cedar log facades framing the main entrance, fresh wood panels inside, a vintage coke machine, and a burbling new fountain in the corner. We also found that under the plaster walls was a sturdy and elegant grey brick, which turned out to be the original building, constructed back in 1946.
While our books, bulbs, and seeds now enjoy a brighter atmosphere, we have also brought in some new trinkets to prepare for the holidays. We have ornaments (chickens anyone?), bottle-toppers, and other delightfully different seasonal decorations including 3D glasses to view Christmas lights with!
Also, hand-made plantable holiday cards and gift tags infused with wildflower seed are perfect for any gardener. They go in the ground, and as the paper composts, the flowers grow! We welcome everybody to stop in and check out our progress while we still have the cheerful sun lighting up our days. The upcoming
celebration of our third anniversary on December 4th would be a perfect opportunity to come in and catch the cheerful tunes of Chico greats the Yule Logs. As the holidays are almost upon us remember to get outdoors when you can to enjoy the gorgeous changes, and stop in and visit us to see what we've accomplished.
