Counselors' Corner

We hope your school year is off to a great start!  This year your PWS students will have two counselors, Carrie Heide and Katie Frank.  Katie Frank also works at MSE, so she will be at PWS on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday.  During the year we offer Friendship groups, Divorce groups and other support groups.  Each year our goal is to include every child in a Friendship group and/or Lunch group.  Friendship groups help us get to know your child, and it gives students a fun way to connect with their peers in a small group.  Parents and students do not need to sign up for Friendship or Lunch groups.  We will invite all students to participate in these groups throughout the school year.  If you do not want your child to participate in a Friendship group, please let us know.

Divorce groups and other support groups require parent permission to participate.  Let us know if you are interested in more information about these groups.

Thank you!  We enjoy working with your children!  Please come visit us in our new classrooms, 200A and 200B.

Young Rembrandts

 Preschool
Has your preschooler expressed an interest in
drawing? If so, he/she will love our classes. Our
lessons will strengthen our students' core
drawing skills as we introduce them to wonderful
season imagery. Their creativity and skills will be
built by drawing acorns, fall leaves, apple trees
and storybook characters. They will love it!

Elementary
Encourage your elementary student's
enthusiasm for art and help develop their drawing
skills this class. Our students learn to transform
simple shapes into cartoon characters. They'll
draw a colorful parrot, a detailed pirate ship and a
robot to inspire a sense of adventure in them. All
this and more await your artist in a Young
Rembrandts classroom. Sign up today!

Cartoon
Does your child have a great sense of humor? If
so, your child will love a Young Rembrandts
Cartoon class. Our students will draw various
cartoon characters and learn important drawing
techniques. They will learn exaggeration and
personification by drawing sports scenes and
other objects. Our students will also learn to tell a
story through the use of sequential drawings. Get
ready for some fun. Sign up today.

Classroom Happenings

P.E.- Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Parents, help your Kindergarten or 1st grade child join the shoe tying club!  PE teacher, Coach Buchanan and Coach Schauer, will be watching their students tie shoes for a chance to put a paper shoe on the wall with the student's name on it and become a member of the PWS Shoe Tying Club!  Work with your children at home.  We hope to have all students in the club within a month.  In order to keep our newly finished wood floor in pristine condition, all students are required to have separate (not necessarily new) PE shoes.  Changing shoes can take time, but learning to tie shoes can shorten the process.  Thank you for your help!

pop tab

Mrs. May's & Ms. Weis's Classes

We would like to collect 1,000,000 pull tabs!  Please help us by saving tabs off pop cans, soup cans, pet food, tuna, etc... and send them to school.  Ask your family, neighbors, and friends to help us reach our goal.  We donate our tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in the spring during their annual pull tab drive - Pull Tabs in the Heartland.  These donations of tabs help the Ronald McDonald House help sick and injured children and their families.  We are kids, helping kids!!
