If you would be willing to volunteer to work on the PWS yearbook, please let me know.

PWX Summer Reading and Math: Your child has brought home information on this summer program. We would encourage your child to participate and submit an entry for each program. SUMMER ONLINE ENROLLMENT

In order for the Transportation Department to have more time to set up bus routes, we are going to have two phases of enrollment.

On June 12, 2014, you will receive an email with directions to fill out your 2014-15 transportation form on a secured site for each of your students. The electronic form, Transportation Enrollment, can be accessed on the district web page, www.usd266.com under Quick Links or at www.usd266.com/busform. Due to state requirements, ALL parents must provide this information to our Transportation Department regardless of whether your student will be riding the bus. This portion of the enrollment process will need to be completed by July 6.

On July 5, 2014, you will receive a letter containing your Family access login and password and instructions on how to complete the 2014-15 enrollment process. Your password will be reset so please follow the directions. You will be asked to provide demographic information about your family and answer a series of questions for each of your students. This portion of the enrollment process will need to be completed by July 18.

You will also have the ability to pay your fees online using your credit card or you will be able to mail in a check for your student's enrollment fees. Families who qualify for free and reduced lunches and complete the Waiver of Confidentiality form (back page of the free/reduced application) will have their fees waived if approved. The free and reduced lunch application will be available on the district web page after July 16, 2014. If you believe you will qualify for free and reduced lunches, please complete the enrollment information. Print and mail your free/reduced application to the Educational Support Center but do not submit your payment until your application has been processed.

If you do not have access to the Internet, you may come to the district's Educational Support Center, 905 Academy Avenue, between July 7-18 during normal business hours to log in and complete the enrollment process. The office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the summer months.

Questions? Please send an e-mail to enrollment@usd266.com and a district representative will contact you.

ONE-STOP ENROLLMENT

Know someone new to the district who needs to enroll? One-Stop Enrollment for students new to the district will be held on August 1 at Maize High School from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beginning, July 10, parents can save themselves time by pre-registering for One-Stop Enrollment. Prior to attending One Stop Enrollment on August 1, fill out the necessary forms by visiting the district website, www.usd266.com and clicking on the New Student Pre-Registration link in the Quick Links section of the home page.

Fifth Grade 1st Place Team

Congratulations to everyone who read books for this and made it to the competitions! I love that kids are exposed to new books and actually talk about them together during this year-long activity.

Jeannine Lopez designed the SRC t-shirt!

Many, many prizes were earned from reading SRC books throughout the year. The culmination of the Big-point earners will be tomorrow morning during our Awards Assembly. Although earning prizes is not the best reason to read, it is another  incentive to encourage children to read as much as possible because: "The more you read, the more you know, the more you know, the smarter you grow, the smarter you grow, the stronger your voice when speaking your mind or making a choice."   Like most worthwhile things in life, the more you practice reading, the better you get at it so don't forget to keep practicing this summer.

Your kids may have already told you that this is my last year at Pray-Woodman. I officially let them know a couple of weeks ago; and of course they did some research for me on Turkey to give me some ideas of what I should see and do while l am over there the next two years.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as library media specialist at Pray-Woodman school, but I'm also looking forward to retiring/transitioning to being a librarian in a K-8 school in Istanbul while I'm still healthy, have no grandchildren and my parents are also in good health. There's a small window of opportunity to do this, so I'm going to take it; although I will miss all the wonderful staff, kids and parents at Pray-Woodman.

Thank you all for being so kind to me during my last years of service to public education.
