In celebration of the opening of a new chapter in Indianapolis education, the students, faculty, staff, and families of Shortridge High School and Butler University are partnering with the Indiana Humanities Council to host an All-In Block Party at Shortrodge on Saturday, July 18, 2015, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This all-community, family-friendly event will bring together over 40 organizations to celebrate Unity of Community: Shortridge as a cultural hub--past, present, and future.
We are celebrating unity of community for the neighborhood, IPS and Indianapolis, and opening Shortridge's doors to foster new and exciting relationships with community partners from around the city and state. Shortridge alumni are invited and encouraged to participate at this event as we begin a new era for the school.
FORTHCOMING ARTS AND CULTURE EXHIBITIONS
According to tne new administrators, the historic Shortridge High School will be the new home of the International Baccalureate program for IPS. In its new home we will provide and showcase displays and celebrate the artistic talents of our alumni and community neighbors.
We are seeking local artists and art organizations to showcase the artwork, create mentorships with students, host First Friday exhibitions and lend rotating works of art for displays in the 296,000 sq. foot building.
Shortridge IB High School is devoted to making art and culture available to the city's diverse population. For more information, contact Amanda Cory at coryal@myips.org or at 317-226-4108
