Metropolitan Youth Orchestra & Guest Performer,
Jeremy Green, violist
Friday, April 10, 6-9PM - Caleb Mills Auditorium
The SAA continues its schedule of upcoming events to celebrate  the school's 150th anniversary with an appearance of the 16-member Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) on Friday, April 10, 6-9PM (ET). MYO will perform.at Caleb Mills Auditorium along with a guest performance by 17-year-old Jeremy Green, a nationally known violist for his renditions of contemporary music that resonates with youth on this instrument.
A classically-trained entertainer, Jeremy is a native of San Antonio, TX. He was introduced to the viola at age 10, an instrument rarely played apart from a full orchestra, Jeremy began posting popular music covers on YouTube and in the summer of 2014, he covered "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, which created an admired and loyal following. As a result, he has enjoyed playing at various venues across the nation from Carnegie Hall, to large corporations; he recently participated in the Grand Opening for Disney's new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Theater in Orlando, FL.

Alumni, visitors and friends are encouraged to stop by the school to see check out the displays that highlight historical events in the school's magnificent 150-year  history and legacy; some distinguished alumni are quoted, outstanding athletes and athletic individual and team accomplishments are mentioned, along with copies of the Daily Echo. A photo of the school under construction in 1927 was found and is shown.

Thanks to the Shortridge Alumni Association, and in particular Jarnell Burks-Craig, vice president on the Board, for her research efforts and collaboration with the Indiana Historical Society and the school's Media staff for a superb job to locate and organize school memorabilia.
