NewsBriefs - January 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wishing you all the best for health and prosperity.

~Shortridge Alumni Association~

 WINTER WEATHER WOES
Indianapolis students received an unexpected three-week holiday vacation when the polar vortex swept through the city and dumped a foot or more of snow and ice on the city. All schools closed for an additional week on the heels of the Christmas/New Years holidays. Subzero temperatures hampered snow and ice removal, homes lost electricity, and some experienced busted pipes, which led to very expensive repairs.

Then, after resuming classes, Mother Nature continues to wreck havoc on work and school schedules, travels around and out of town with another round this week! This winter is the 2nd worst weather condition in more than two decades...and it's not over yet! More snow and arctic snow are forecast for the next week or more. B-r-r-r-r-r! And Indiana is not the only place experiencing these winter woes. Stay safe and keep warm wherever you are. For those alumni in southern California, here's hoping you've escaped the extremely dry conditions and wildfires.
