 Herschell Turner's Jersey (#55) Retired
H.T. and friends

Friday, DECEMBER 6, 2013, family and friends joined with Herschell (H.T.) Turner for his #55 basketball jersey retirement ceremony. Some of his friends on hand were: L-R William "Bo" Crain ('59), H.T., Kenny Keltner ('59), Ray Satterfield ('60), and Gerry "Muffin" Williams ('59).
The evening began with a light refeshments reception in the media center, followed by the ceremony in the gym prior to the varsity game vs. all-time rival Broad Ripple Rockets.
Numerous Turner family members, former classmates and life- long friends attended the game to help H.T. celebrate this memorable occasion.
(BTW,.the Blue Devils won the game!!!)
Turner Jersey #55 Unveiled

(L) Danny Wilson, athletic director, and principal Stanley Law, helped Herschell Turner unveil the drawing of the jersey on Athletes' Memorial Wall in the school's new gymnasium. The jerseys of George Pillow ('67) and William "Bo" Crain, respectively, previously retired jerseys, will be added to the wall soon as a permanent display to recognize their superior ball-playing years as Shortridge Blue Devils sharp shooters, professional careers and community service achievements. All three of these former players are members of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Shortridge win the Legacy games, battle of the bands

The second installment of the Legacy games between Shortridge and our other long-time rival, Crispus Attucks Tigers, saw both boys and girls teams triumphant this year. The boys varsity team was able to bring the trophy to Shortridge after last year's defeat. The girls team repeated their victory from last year. As well, Shortridge won the Battle of the Bands for the second consecutive year. The Blue Devils will now hold the revolving trophies for the next year when the games will again return to Shortridge.
Thank you for all those who attended the games held this year on Thanksgiving eve at Crispus Attucks.
