Greetings!

Ah, a Fall chill is in the air....Here's wishing you all the best during this seasonal transition period.

~Shortridge Alumni Association~

Update your contact information; renew membership by check or online

If you have a new email or mailing address, please let us know. Send changes/corrections to: shortridgealumni@sbcglobal.net. During our recent mailing to the alumni, we received numerous pieces of returned mail with incorrect addresses; as well we continue to get bounced emails from our monthly newsletter. We would like to have some form of contact information--email or snail mail--in order for you to receive information periodically from the alumni association regarding special events at the school, things of interest targeting alumni, or reunion information from your classmates.

PLEASE, PLEASE, do not attempt to correct errors on the website by creating a new account. Visit the website at www.shortridgealumni.com. Log into the website with your email address (if you have previously registered) and check your entry. If you notice an error in your online website information, kindly send us an email and we'll be happy to make the corrections and eliminate duplicates in our database and on the website.

Also, we'll be happy to add the names of classmates missing from your class directory. And feel free to share our web address for alumni to Register and complete an individual Profile.

MEMBERSHIP DUES:
And last, but certainly not least, please renew your memberships. Nearly one-half of our alumni association members have failed to renew membership...$35 annually. Pay by check to SAA c/o 5030 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46254 or pay member dues online on the website --- Dues/Donation tab via PayPal or major credit card. Member dues are the SAA's primary source for operating funds. These member dues allow us to support various student projects around the school whose budgets have been drastically slashed. Your membership expiration date is located at the bottom of your membership card. However, if you've misplaced your card, send us an email and we'll be happy to let you know if your member dues are current or expired.

Our alumni database is NOT shared with third party groups or organizations and is restricted for our internal use only. We believe in protecting your  privacy.

Thank you!

SMHS Band plays at Purdue Univ (West Layette, IN)

The Shortridge Magnet High School marching band played recently during a football game half-time program at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN). Under the direction of Ms. Kathy Spangler, the band continues its exposure for various competitions and opportunities to perform on a larger scale around the state. Ms. Spangler and the Shortridge Community Band Boosters are to be commended for jobs well done this summer. And this group is especially commended for using their own fundraising initiatives to cover some of the costs for most of their travel expenses and band member needs. Any financial support would be especially helpful. Send your donations directly to Shortridge Magnet High School c/o Ms. Kathy Spangler, 3401 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Shortridge Media Specialist (Librarian) gladly accepts all old Shortridge Yearbooks. Kindly send any old yearbooks to Shortridge Magnet High School, 3401 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, c/o the Media Specialist.

Check out the digital library of yearbooks as catalogued by the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. Most Shortridge yearbooks  from 1898 - 1968 are available for viewing at: http://digitallibrary.imcpl.org/shs.php

We're sorry to report that Gregg Nowling is no longer the Media Specialist at Shortridge. He accepted a comparable position at his alma mater, Tech High School, beginning this school year. All the best wishes to Gregg in his new assignment. He will be missed at SMHS. We'll inform our readers of the new Media Specialist when that position is filled at Shortridge.

And, with Gregg's departure, the future of the electronic version of the Daily Echo is definitely in jeopardy. Are there any former alumni Echo reporters out there that would be interested in reviving this Shortridge tradition again? If so, send us an email at: shortridgealumni@sbcglobal.net.
