Music Department News:
Ms. Spangler and other Music department staff continue to need our help. Over 250 students are in the bands and orchestras at Shortridge. As an end-of-year remembrance, the teachers would like to provide letters and pins to the 12 seniors that have participated in concert band, marching band, drum line, jazz band all four years; however, funding is lacking. Please send your donation, payable to Shortridge Magnet High School, c/o Ms. Kathy Spangler, 3401 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
The parents and students are very involved and have created a band booster organization this year; however, financial resources are in short supply, especially for "extras." As well, they are attempting to generate funds to offset Summer Band Camp this year. Shortridge is expected to pay approximately $8,000 for the band students to be housed on campus at Butler University for 60 students to attend band camp. Donations in any amount will be greatly appreciated and needed by May 1st.
BAND MEMBERS VISIT THE 'BIG APPLE' (NYC)
Several members of the Shortridge band recently returned from New York City during spring break along with faculty and adult band booster club members. Pictures show the students taking in sights around the city. This trip (and all others extra-curricular activities) are possible only through hard work, countless hours of fundraising, and generous donations. Everyone had a great time!
