Target Field-Batter Up!

Batting Cages Get LED Upgrade

Target Field is one of the newest and nicest baseball stadiums in the country.  Built in 2007 it was rated as the best baseball stadium experience by ESPN in 2010 and continues to impress.  Since the time it was built however there have been major advances in lighting and with that there is opportunity even for the newest and nicest facilities to save energy.

Premier Lighting and GE met with the Minnesota Twins to discuss lighting in their locker room batting cages as it was aging and losing light.  They had metal halide fixtures which at the time it was built were a good choice for the application, but with the advances in LED lighting technology  there was an opportunity to take advantage of for the Minnesota Twins.

There was a mixture of 400 watt and 175 watt metal halides with some being on 24/7 and others controlled.   With the difference in fixtures they had areas that were brighter than others and were using more energy than they needed.  In place of the metal halides Premier Lighting recommended going with a patented GE LED light fixture.  The GE LED fixture uses 85 watts and provides better light than the metal halides at 175 and 400 watts.

In addition to energy savings and brighter light, the new LED lights will last 5-10 times longer than the metal halide fixtures and continue to keep Target Field on the leading edge of technology.

If there is an area in you facility that might benefit from a lighting upgrade, for better aesthetics, better light quality, and energy savings, give us a call at 651-490-0886 or email to: sales@premierltg.com.

Should you Replace Your T8 Fluorescent with T8 LED Tubes?

For years, lighting indoor commercial spaces was a no-brainer. Most folks simply went with linear fluorescent lights (LFLs) - and for good reason. They have quality light output, are one of the most efficient light sources available, and have decent lifespans. This is especially true of the T8 lamps, which use about 40% less energy than the older, now phased-out T12 lamps. That being said, now there is a new player in the commercial lighting arena that promises even better efficiency: the linear LED replacement (T8 LED).

Premier Lighting stocks a complete line of commercial-grade fluorescent, halogen, HID, incandescent and LED lamps, ballasts, controls and sensors for all your daily supply needs, along with commercial-grade fixtures and replacement lenses for those special projects.
