When Wagner decided to upgrade the lighting in the warehouse of their Plymouth location they contacted Premier Lighting for a recommendation that would improve the overall light levels in the warehouse area and reduce energy costs.  The warehouse had a ceiling height of 32 feet with a combination of 400 watt metal halide fixtures and 1,000 watt metal halide fixtures, utilizing 480 volt power.

After reviewing the project, Premier Lighting recommended a 4 lamp, T5, Fluorescent  Highbay fixture throughout the warehouse, which made the most sense with the 480 volt power source and the 32 foot high ceilings.   The fixtures recommended for the aisle were equipped with occupancy sensors and focused reflectors, and the fixtures used in the open areas utilized spread reflectors and no occupancy sensors.

The new 4 Lamp T5 Fluorescent Highbay Fixtures doubled the light levels from 20 FC to 40 FC, provided annual savings of $15,000/year and a payback on the project cost of less than one year.  If you have a lighting project where light levels need to be improved, or would like to see if there is an opportunity to save energy, contact Premier Lighting for a no obligation review of your current lighting.

Family-Owned Supermarket Retrofits Store with LEDs

"Add green to our bottom line"

A family-owned and operated grocery retailer, recently installed LED lighting, to better illuminate its store. The newly renovated store features LED luminaires that help make products more attractive to customers, offer a quick payback and anticipated energy savings of 47% over the store's previous design.

In a press release, the owner stated, that he was looking for a lighting system that would showcase products in their most appetizing color. When the company decided to remodel its store, they initially chose fluorescent T8s and CFL downlights until  seeing LED lighting, which is now providing significant energy and maintenance savings compared to traditional technologies. "In the grocery store industry, it's all about margins and LEDs helped add green to our bottom line," he said.

The owner installed LED linear luminaires, troffers, and LED recessed downlights. The LED system will pay for itself within two years, based on commercial usage of 18 hours per-day and the national average of $0.11 per kWh electric costs, lighting-related HVAC impact and relamp maintenance reductions
