In the spirit of Detroit, Benny N. Napoleon, J.D., is seeking the office of mayor of the city of Detroit to chart a new course toward a strong Detroit future. The current Wayne County Sheriff, Napoleon is a lifelong Detroiter who has dedicated nearly 40 years of public service to the citizens of Detroit and Wayne County. As Detroit's Chief of Police, he oversaw the largest general fund department -- and in so doing reduced violent crime by more than 34 percent. Napoleon's passion for the city and his integrity is evident in every leadership role he undertakes. His experience goes far beyond law enforcement into finance, legal, business and real estate -- at the top levels of county government and as a former executive with one of the nation's largest property acquisition firms. He is also a licensed attorney, a vocal leader and advocate for democracy, a former university professor, and mentors youth throughout Detroit. Napoleon's extensive education -- which began in Detroit Public Schools -- and numerous awards and honors are representative of his character and effectiveness.
