Representative Skye McNiel Honored by the OCA

  
MIDWEST CITY, OK, JULY 26, 2013 - Representative Skye McNiel was presented the legislative appreciation award during the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association Annual Awards Banquet.  The award was established to recognize elected officials who support Oklahoma agriculture and are loyal to Oklahoma cattlemen and their needs.
 

"Words cannot express our respect and appreciation for Representative McNiel.  Her passion and persistence to help Oklahoma Agriculture is second to none.  Specifically, we admire her diligence on House Bill 1999.  Representative McNeil is an outstanding legislator who understands firsthand, the importance of the beef industry in Oklahoma and we are very proud to honor her with this award," said Richard Gebhart, OCA President.

 

Representative McNiel is a fifth-generation Oklahoman and life-time resident of Bristow, Oklahoma.  She was elected to represent State House District 29 in 2006, at the age of 27. 

 

For the 2013 Legislative Session, Rep. McNiel served as Chair for Appropriations Subcommittee on Career Tech, the Appropriations and Budget committee, the Human Services Committee and the Economic Development and Financial Services Committee.  She was appointed by the 2011-2012 Speaker of the House Kris Steele to serve on his leadership team as Majority Whip, as well as the House Political Action Committee (PAC) Chairman. 

 

Rep. McNiel is a graduate of Bristow Public Schools and Oklahoma State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in both Agriculture Communications and Animal Science.   Rep. McNiel and her husband Pecos have three daughters.  Her love for her family and community keeps her focused and driven to continue her hard work with the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
