Tim Roake,
Senior Software Engineer - Security Industry
Tim Roake, Recruiting Success Stories
The Director of Engineering asked Redfish Technology for help in finding Senior Software Engineers. This well-established security company was created to solve the industry's biggest problem: making encryption and tokenization of data simple for even the most complex use cases. As the leading expert in data-centric encryption and tokenization, this company has solved this challenge through cryptographic innovations. The expanding team in this fast-paced company required a software engineer with specific coding expertise, and ideally experience in security and encryption.  With secure mail solution and secure data solutions for companies ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, the company desired a creative, problem-solving mind to join the team implementing major features and components of the enterprise data protection platform.

Tim Roake has two decades of software architecting and engineering experience at companies that have been deep in secure communications and enterprise software. He has a vast experience with many relevant technologies and topping his expansive list of skills, he is especially strong in C++/C#/Python. An Aussie, Tim got a Bachelor of Engineering studying Electrical Engineering, Embedded Software, Signal Processing, and Communications down under. He loves algorithms, strives for practical solutions, and embraces agile methodologies. Tim continually updates his professional credentials, and is a certified scrum master. He enjoys participating on and leading teams with synergy and disparate skills, both in the tech field and as a softball coach. Tim meshed immediately with the fast-paced team at Voltage, and has hit the ground running. Best of luck Tim!

"Meredith provided the best service I have ever encountered from a recruitment company. From the start she was able to target my skills to the right opportunities and then followed up to completion in the shortest possible time frame while also providing constant feedback and advice. Meredith works for the candidate's best outcome and I highly recommend her."

BUILDING YOUR TEAM FROM THE NET OUT

By Mike Curry , Executive Recruiter, IT Division Mike Curry

As a former professional hockey player turned recruiter, I often find hockey terms and analogies relevant to technology recruitment. I left home at 17 to play hockey, played four years in the NCAA at Minnesota-Duluth, and then in the East Coast Hockey League. Fast forward, I am now a tech recruiter. I currently play for the Sun Valley Suns hockey team, with an occasional stint for the Idaho Steelheads, well okay only once so far, but I am available for more!

Build Your Team from the Net Out

In hockey the coaches talk of building the team from the net out. This means starting with a rock-solid goalie, then building the defense, then the forwards, and on. The theory is that by preventing goals with solid defense and goaltending, you minimize scoring. You then build the middle with good centers to drive your offense. You want centers who are reliable and multifaceted, to bridge the gap between the defensemen and forwards. Next build the wings, then the offense.

HOW DO YOU SOURCE TALENT?

Talent Pipeline Companies source talent online, offline, internally, externally, and different methods work better for some than others.

A great source of sourcing info:

The SilkRoad Top Sources of Hire annual report looks at client data from the SilkRoad Recruiting ATS, which is used by companies ranging in size from small-to-medium businesses up to vary large companies across industries like IBM, eBay, and L'Oréal.

Interview or Hire as metric?

This is always a fun report to read and compare and contrast with the sources of hire of veteran growth-mode recruiting firm, Redfish Technology. Redfish primarily serves start-up to mid-stage growth mode companies very focused in the tech sectors. We use hire as the main metric.

CONNECTING IN YOUR INTERVIEW
Ideas for meeting people and relationship building
  Connect in the Interview

Business is made up of people working together on an activity for the benefit of all involved: boss, employee, customer, the society at large hopefully! And the interview is an interactive opportunity for both employer and prospective employee to evaluate fit and decide if they want to collaborate on the company's goals.

While hard skills may need to be verified, such as a software developer being able to coder efficiently, and while references should always be checked, the interview has other objectives beyond these.

People spend a lot of time together at work. All parties hope for a great cultural fit and personal flow with their colleagues. So how to you determine this in a single meeting? Some folks connect right out of the shoot. If you are shy or otherwise not instantly connecting, either as the interviewee or the interviewer, try some of these ideas on for size:

REDFISH TECHNOLOGY NAMED
#1 BEST PLACE TO WORK IN IDAHO!
Third year in a row! Best Places to Work Winner 2015

On April 16, 2015 Redfish Technology was named the #1 Best Place to Work in Idaho. The award ceremony took place at the Boise State Campus Double R Ranch Club overlooking the city of trees. In its eight year, the Best Places to Work award program had a record number of entries.

The Best Places to Work in Idaho is a data-driven program - created by POPULUS, a marketing and research firm - that confidentially surveys employees in order to measure and compare employers across five dimensions of the work place. Winners are selected based on their employee ratings in the areas of: compensation and benefits; employee growth and development; work life balance; workplace environment; and organizational management.

RECRUITING, STAFFING & EMPLOYMENT NEWS

Rebound but questions about the pace of the bounce-back

The hot industries in April hiring were: RF Solutions, Cloud Hosting, Big Data Analytics, HealthTech, and Mobile Data Security.

The jobs report showed growth of 223,000 in April. The sectors with the most growth were: professional and business services (+62,000), health care (+45,000), and construction (+45,000). While the 223,000 figure marked a rebound over March 85,000, the slower wage growth has many betting that the Fed will hold off from raising interest rates a little longer.
