HOW TO BUILD RAPPORT IN YOUR JOB INTERVIEW
Establishing Fit and Getting the Job Offer

Eye on the Prize Handshake

The best outcome of an interview is a job offer at a great company, with good colleagues, in a challenging role, with satisfying remuneration. How do you get there? If you've been invited to the interview, most likely you are qualified, or at least pre-qualified for the position.

But getting to the offer and getting the offer you'd like means you've got to demonstrate your value as well as your ability to fit in with the team and jump right into the work. This can only be achieved if you can build rapport with your interviewers.

Two-Way Communication

An interview is an interactive dialogue not just a Q&A session that rephrases and reiterates the contents of your resume. And the interviewing goes both ways: Does the hiring manager and team think you are a good fit? Do you think the company, team and opportunity fit your objectives?

THE SABBATICAL:
New Perspective, Rest, Education, Renewal
Redfish Team Thought Leadership, Stimulating Ideas, and Innovation Discussions
  Renewal

Welcome to 2015 everyone! Also called "rest with a purpose", the sabbatical is an appropriate discussion after a good long holiday break! We hope that the holidays gave respite and reestablishment, and that you enter the New Year full of new energy and vision! If not, maybe it is time for a sabbatical.

The idea of rest is one we can all relate to, every week we look forward to a day or so of it. Even our language codifies the concept of rest: In Old English sabat means "Saturday as a day of rest". An in Mosaic law, the seventh year was a sabbatical year, "in which land was to remain untilled and debtors and slaves released". Universities often grant sabbatical years to their staff, not for rest but in order to focus and engage "in research or other activities that will advance the faculty member's scholarly achievement or that will enhance the reputation of or otherwise benefit the university".

What if you took that a step further? ...

ENTERPRISE TECH TRENDS
Transformation and Innovation
Enterprise Tech
Businesses are being radically transformed via enterprise technology, and 2015 will continue bringing innovation opportunities. For example, cloud technologies go way beyond the IT department affecting corporate strategy, product design and launch, engagement with clients and suppliers, finance and operations, security and governance, and company culture.

The Editor in Chief at InfoWorld, Eric Knorr, offers his perspective on the key trends in enterprise technology for next year and beyond.

Public Cloud Takes the Lead - Knorr identifies that enterprises' specialization is their own business, and not trying to reproduce the quality, functionality and security in a private cloud that they can access via AWS and other public clouds.

Open Source Application Package - Docker is extending application portability beyond the development lifecycle to orchestration across multiple clouds.
