FEATURED PLACEMENT

Rebecca Swensen,
Senior Product Marketing Manager - Engineering Software
A long-time client and leader in the Software sector engaged Redfish Technology when they had a key hire to make. The Senior Product Marketing Manager is a highly visible role as advocate for one of the world's fastest and most innovative software companies. The company sought someone with the ability to impact many different aspects of the product from problem solving to UI design in order to make the product more accessible to a wider audience. The Senior PMM would need to be able to walk in and own and manage the product positioning and messaging, create remarkable content, engage in social media to attract new potential customers and answer important product questions, as well as enable the channel by communicating the value proposition and developing marketing tools that support the selling process.

Rebecca reached out to Redfish after finding an advertisement for the position online. Rebecca earned an MBA and an MS in Information Systems from the Boston University School of Management, and launched into a successful career in product marketing management, market research, and business analysis. She has deep industry knowledge in hi-tech, telecom, utility, retail, government, consumer, logistics, and mobility. Her exceptional strengths include product strategy, market analysis, taking products to market, sales enablement, and marketing collateral and communications. With a unique combination of business acumen and market insight, combined with excellent people management skills and result driven approach, Rebecca was the ideal candidate for this strategic Product Marketing Manager role.

"Within a minute of applying for the position, my phone was ringing. Jon believed the fit was excellent and wanted to get the ball rolling quickly. Never once did I question that Jon was on my team, doing what he could to make the job offer not only happen but also include the salary and benefits I was looking for. He was responsive and helpful, more so than other recruiters I've worked with in the past.  Now that I'm three months into the job, I realize that working with Jon was the best decision I could have made in my job search." - Rebecca Swensen

Offer letters are used to inform a prospective employee that he or she is being offered a position. The offer letter provides general expectations and basic terms of employment if the candidate accepts the offer.

1.    Excitement

This is an exciting moment for both the candidate and the company, and the hire is not over until everyone has signed on the dotted line and the work has begun. So convey your excitement and close the deal!

HIGH TECH TRENDS
Mobile Messaging Consolidation

Facebook's Mega Purchase of WhatsApp for $16b + $3b in stock

Facebook's $19 billion acquisition of the 450 million-user WhatsApp makes the Instagram deal at $1 billion look like small peanuts. At approximately $40 per user that may be a pretty good buy, especially compared to pay-for-click adwords! And strategically this is better than any demographic targeting of the mobile / international / teen markets - the places Facebook wouldn't otherwise reach so quickly even with free Facebook targeted ads!

So while the WhatsApp pricetag is large, it is not the Biggest Tech Acquisitions of All Time. It ranks number two after Hewlett-Packard's purchase of Compaq at an inflation-adjusted $33.4 billion in 2001 according to Business Intelligence Insider. Number three on the largess scale was Hewlett-Packard's purchase of Electronic Data Systems for $15.4 billion and fourth place goes to Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $13 billion.

2014 Solar Already Shining Brighter than 2013's Sunshine Year

2013 Sunshine Year

Last year was a banner year for solar. Approximately 4,300 MW of PV came online, that's 27% growth over 2012 installation totals. Q3 2013 was the second largest quarter in the PV history, installing 930 Megawatts. An estimated 800 MW of CSP was expected to be commissioned by the end of 2013...

2014 Shine Bright Like a Diamond

100% of new U.S. generating capacity came from renewable energy in January according to EarthTechling. That includes a whopping 287 megawatts of solar! Renewables accounted for virtually all of the new utility-scale generating capacity installed in the United States in the month of January - pretty impressive.

WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR COVER LETTER
In Six Easy Tips

This should be obvious, I know. But really, please re-read your letter don't just count on Microsoft spell check and proof your grammar for you. There are many mixed up homophones and cognates, abused apostrophes, and careless typos that can slip in. Like brushing your hair and teeth before leaving the house, your cover letter should be properly proofed to ensure it's ready to go out.

RECRUITING, STAFFING & EMPLOYMENT NEWS
Better Than Expected
Employees

Redfish Technology had an amazing February, placements were primarily in ePayments, Cloud, SaaS, Compliance Monitoring, Customer Optimization Services, Digital Media Solutions, and Mobile Apps. New job orders have spanned every aspect of mobile (Mobile Security, Mobile Apps, Mobile Wallet...). The most highly placed roles were CTO, Account Executives, Product Marketing Manager, Software Developers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and a Project Manager.

The general economy's jobs creation was not as gang busters but did come in better than expected. Severe winter weather in much of the country may have snowed in the jobs numbers. The U.S. Economy added 175,000 jobs last month - much better than December and January, yet down from last year's average of 189,000 per month.
