It is exhilarating as a recruiter to reach out to the best and brightest talent with an opportunity they weren't even looking for and be able to get them very exciting about it because of the company's awesome culture! The companies who have dialed in their culture and know what to offer their employees to motivate them do less recruiting. It is simple. These companies are retaining their excellent talent. HIRING TRENDS
Spotlight NYC High Tech
 | | Beth Cliff |
Interviewed recently about hiring trends in NYC, Beth Cliff, IT Engineering Recruitment Manager, offered these insights.
There is enormous demand for top notch Software Engineers with mad Java, C++, and Ruby on Rails skills; Web Developers with deep UI/UX experience; Front-end Developers experienced in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP; Mobile Developers with the latest skills in iOS and Android; Systems Administrators (Linux in particular); and Big Data experts specifically masters of Hadoop.
Beth further noted that two things that are critical in landing an interview and the job in this market are: 1) A concise, well-written resume with experience that you can back up in an interview, and 2) Someone that can give you an introduction directly to the hiring Manager whether it be a friend, colleague or recruiter.
The market is still very competitive, and the hiring process moves quickly, so being readily available for phone and on-site interviews, as well as, returning calls and e-mails promptly is very important."

CLEANTECH TRENDS
Clean Energy Trends 2013 From Clean Edge Inc.
Last year was a challenge for the clean energy sectors. Layoffs, bankruptcies, decreased funding, and politics, beleaguered the industry. This year, politics are in play again; assaults on state-backed renewable portfolio standards are being mounted on several fronts.
There is plenty of good news too however.
The need for clean tech hasn't gone away however. The world population continues to expand, straining precious resources of clean air and water. Climate change has undoubtedly played a role in an ever increasing number of weather disasters. The Obama administration has redoubled efforts to grow renewable power and energy efficiency. Clean-tech is increasingly competitive in terms of pricing, wind and solar are reaching cost parity in both utility-scale and distributed markets.

SEVEN RESUME DOs AND DON'Ts
Sometimes simple, sometimes not, there are few dos and don'ts not to forget....
Customize your resume for the position and company you are applying for, use keywords that are on point. Your resume had better speak to the reader, you probably only have 20 seconds of their attention - make sure you are on target.
Include your quantifiable accomplishments (numbers, statistics, percentages,...). If you are in sales, what numbers did you hit? Marketing, what lead generation growth did you make? In product management, time to market targets met? Developer, report your quality and other accomplishments.

RECRUITING, STAFFING & EMPLOYMENT NEWS
Gathering Steam in May
Redfish's main recruiting in May involved Quality Assurance, Systems and other Software Engineers, as well as Delivery Managers. The main tech sectors where we were busiest include Cloud/Grid Computing, Performance Management Software, Network Intelligence, and 3D Mapping Software.
Tech sectors are steaming along, and the competition to hire talent is on-going. There is also a shortage of qualified talent in sectors like health care, biotech and cleantech. The wider economy appears to be gathering steam as well. Indications of the recovery include the U.S. economy growth at a 2.4%, brisk vehicle sales, and very important real estate gains.
