FEATURED PLACEMENT
Jeffrey Blaze, Senior QA Engineer - Disruptive Software
Working with senior management to build out various functional teams of this privately-held, well-funded, growing startup, Redfish Technology, conducted the search and recruiting for a Senior QA Engineer. The company's disruptive software makes it simple and easy for consumers to buy stock online. The company builds simple products that delight consumers that meets regulatory requirements within a secure, stable, high performing environment. The QA team desired a dynamic, experienced professional to be responsible for product testing, working closely with product management and developers to ensure high quality and timely product releases. Written up in the WSJ, Fast Company, and the Business Insider, this innovative company is hiring only the best and brightest technology talent. Redfish directly recruited Jeffrey Blaze, recognizing that this QA automation guru and technology polyglot possessed not only an extensive skill set, but also a broad range of experience that encompasses a variety of senior roles and a diverse set of software applications. His specialization in the architecture and implementation of scalable, flexible, reusable, and easy-to-use automated test frameworks makes him a strong addition to the growing QA team. A seasoned "developer in test," Jeffrey's background with large, established players as well as startups bears out his flexibility and adaptability, key characteristics in a disruptive technology environment. "Rob Reeves is probably the best recruiter I have ever had the pleasure of working with! Throughout the process, it felt good to know that he always had my best interests in mind, and that I could trust him to represent me in an ethical manner. Rob is knowledgeable and thorough, and he managed some delicate negotiations with aplomb. He is extremely professional, yet friendly. And he seems like a really good guy, which makes his misguided football loyalties (UW Huskies and Seattle Seahawks) all the more disappointing." - Jeffrey Blaze

THE CRAFT OF SCOUTING FOR TECH TALENT OR HOCKEY TALENT - You'd be surprised at the similarities...
By John Stevens, Executive Recruiter, IT Engineering

Hockey scouts live in a secretive world of prospecting, some have said it is a world more akin to Cold War-era spying than a casual day in the stands. Faced with bad coffee, long periods in cold rinks, and remote locations, the job isn't as sexy as you might think. As a long-time recruiter in the tech sector, is also an avid hockey player and coach. He notes many similarities between scouting for hockey talent and recruiting top tech talent. Tech recruiters definitely get better coffee however. But beyond that, hockey recruiters and tech recruiters both face the task of identifying and projecting how a prospect will develop and contribute. Scouting requires a deep understanding of the game and a knowledgeable perspective on the player's talent. continues... The great scouts are the ones who...

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISORS ARE KEY TO EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT By Robert Teal, CCP, CBP
 | |
Robert Teal
|
In a recent study by Dale Carnegie Training, respondents reported that their immediate supervisor played an essential role in their engagement with organizational values, initiatives, and goals. The study conducted between February 2012 and April 2012 by MSW Research at the request of Dale Carnegie Training included 1,500 employed participants ages 18 and above.
The study's significant finding was that an employee's supervisor has a direct and determinate impact on the engagement level of the employee. A strong correlation was seen between an employee's level of "satisfaction" and their level of disengagement. In summary, 80% of employees who were found to be Very Dissatisfied were also found to be disengaged; furthermore, employees attributed this lack of engagement to their relationship with their immediate supervisor.

Crowd Funding Economics - Web 3.0 Community Financing Meets Social Networks
There's been a huge roar building around crowd funding and the marketing implications are clear. The democratization of accessing capital sped through Congress at a speed previously thought unachievable, led by the Crowd Fund Advisors. Crowd funding platforms raised almost $1.5 billion in 2011, doubled to $3 billion in 2012, and is predicted to double again to $6 billion in 2013.
Crowd funding can take various forms: Lending, Reward, Donation, and Equity. The forms currently legal in the US include the first three. In lending crowd funding, funders receive interest income from their loan and expect repayment of original principal investment. In reward crowd funding, there is a non-pecuniary benefit. Donation crowd funding provides for not return and is purely philanthropic.

Affordable, Scalable Clean Energy Storage and Reuse
A Revolution for the Hydrogen Economy?
An exciting new discovery has been made by Canadian scientists that would allow the electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation. The discovery would allow renewable energy to be stored and reused at a cost of 1000 less than technologies previously developed.
One of the biggest impediments to affordable renewable energy use on a mass-scale has been timing. Peak use does not necessarily coincide with peak production of wind and solar energy, and storing the energy has not been an affordable option.Such energy is clean and renewable, but it's available only when the sun is shining or the wind is blowing. The new technology opens the door to homeowners and energy companies being able to easily store and reuse solar and wind power.

THE RUN OFF RESULTS!
Logan "The Gazelle" Knight slid to victory.
It started with a little bragging. It evolved into a tit for tat. The boasts got bigger. The pot was stirred. And the next thing you know, the gauntlet was thrown down. "The Run Off" was held to settle the debate and establish who was supreme, with the winner earning eternal bragging rights.
The winner of "The Run Off" race was Logan "The Gazelle" Knight! Joanna Bradley and Leah O'Flynn also ran the entire race, accompanied by Jon Piggins and Cole Reeves on bicycle. "Where's the ibuprofen?" was heard at Mahoney's after the race, along with several musings about making this into an annual event.
The virtual event was held on Facebook, with an open invitation to participate and vote for the winner, and the opportunity to win a $100 Starbucks gift certificate. Photos, video, the Schrein-Dog's training regime, the Gazelle's astrological predictions, and the voting remains available online - and great news, it isn't too late to "Like" the Redfish Technology Facebook page.
Sharma Walker won the Starbucks gift certificate. "Thank you to Redfish Technology for putting on The Run Off. I truly enjoyed the write ups on each of the contestants and also the pictures of the event itself. Please do more contests that will allow me to enjoy the antics of the Redfish employees," replied Sharma, when she heard the news!
