FEATURED PLACEMENT
Joe Panciera, Insight Architect - Systems Integration and Data Management
The Chief Business Architect of this formidable technology services and solutions provider enlisted Redfish Technology's help in recruiting an Insight Architect. The company has a track record of delivering world-class enterprise-wide solutions in industries ranging from Healthcare, Government, to the private sector. Faced with the challenges of locating qualified candidates and time spent reviewing resumes, the company delegated these important recruiting tasks and remained focused on strategically working side-by-side with its clients throughout the program lifecycle. Their priority hire at this time identified an Insight Architect to support a large IT client.
Joe Panciera fit the bill thanks to his technical experience in a wide array of relevant programming languages, and his client-facing tier 3 support background. Launching Joe into ideal candidate status were his additional well-honed communication abilities with both technical and non-technical clients, and his experience leading and training teams. Additionally Joe has received a National Science Foundation Scholarship award for Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, and has been a primary contributor to the Scientific Lab for Academic Computing Research at Evergreen State College's, where he focused intensively in Computer Science and Formal Logic.
"It was a pleasure working with Logan Knight and Redfish, They put me in a perfect environment for my skill set and have staged me for a fantastic opportunity to advance my career."

IS TESTING MORE IMPORTANT THAN INTERVIEWING?
By Leah O'Flynn, Executive Recruiter, IT Sales & Marketing
| | Leah O'Flynn |
Many companies believe testing is more important than interviewing. Testing has long been a part of many evaluation processes from personality testing, character testing and skill set testing. Human Resources often look upon these tests as a requisite part of their screening process. Hiring managers may rely too much on tests. Ironically, a lot of capable and qualified people do poorly on standardized tests. Some people freeze up or let outside circumstance affect their performance. Sometimes candidates with a different cultural background may articulate the answer in a way the test does not anticipate. Testing remains only one part of the story and it may not always tell its part in an informative way. continues...

TECH TRENDS
Big Data Opportunities
How big is Big Data?
Walmart handles more than 1 million customer transactions per hour, over 400 million tweets are sent per day, over 6 billion cell phone calls per day in the U.S., 10,000 payment card transactions made every second worldwide, etc., etc. Just imagine the hard drive and computing power the NSA needs to record all electronic communications across the entire world. Big data is everywhere. What does it take to manage it?
Data collection and analysis are a part of every industry and business function these days. McKinsey & Company estimates that by 2009 already "nearly all sectors in the US economy had at least an average of 200 terabytes of stored data (twice the size of US retailer Wal-Mart's data warehouse in 1999) per company with more than 1,000 employees."

CLEANTECH TRENDS: ENERGY POLICY DEBATES
Production and Pricing - Fruits of Policy or Market Forces?
The second debate and the many positioning opportunities the presidential candidates have taken show a distinct difference in policy approach. The flamboyant statements that are seized upon as sound bites are often used out of context. Here are some recent claims from both Obama and Romney, and a fact-check to bring it back.
In the second debate, Romney stated "As a matter of fact, oil production is down 14 percent this year on federal land, and gas production was down 9 percent. Why? Because the president cut in half the number of licenses and permits for drilling on federal lands and in federal waters." Obama retorted with the claim that under his administration public lands have been opened up. "We've opened up public lands. We're actually drilling more on public lands than in the previous administration." said the President.

SO YOU MUFFED YOUR JOB INTERVIEW?
10 Interview Bloopers and How to Correct Them
Carole Martin,
I'm sure you've sat through movie or TV "bloopers" at the end of shows and laughed at the mistakes the actors make during the filming of the show. If I could put together a film with bloopers that people make in interviews it might seem funny as well - but not when it happens in real life - to you!
How do you avoid bloopers? First you become aware of what some of the pitfalls of interviewing are and then you prepare and practice so that it won't happen to you. Here are 10 of those very pitfalls to watch for.

THE UNWRITTEN IMPORTANCE OF A JOB TITLE

What's the importance of a job title today? Is being the "senior" something or other as valuable to a person as being a "vice president" or something?
Job titles are a tricky business in today's work environment. You want a job title that not only accurately describes the work you're employed to do, but also a title that reflects your pay ranking and seniority within the organization. A good job title confers status on a worker and even can help with costs, especially when it comes to updates needed in business cards printing.
