Dearest friends, to each of you who held Princess in your thoughts, prayers and, above all, always, in your hearts, with sadness beyond words, I write this morning of the loss of our beautiful Bactrain girl.  She went peacefully yesterday afternoon, surrounded by absolute love in the company of those whose lives were so blessed by her presence.

As today's morning sunlight dissolves the fog, I feel that Princess is now running free in the Light, liberated from the pain that she'd handled with such grace and dignity.  She navigated  this life with serenity and beauty, with humor and - above all - loving without limit or condition.  May we honor her in mindfulness - of her legacy of loving - as we each continue our individual journeys, ever grateful that, for too brief a moment, the path was shared by this beautiful being.

To Princess, Namaste
To each of you, blessings, as each of you are blessing to others,
Carol

DISCOVERING OUR LINEAGE
by Alice Risemberg
on the website of the International House of Reiki

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At a Reiki class, teachers often share their Reiki teaching lineage - who their teacher is and that teacher's teachers - in a direct line back to Mikao Usui, who originated the system of practice we call Reiki. Lineage can be spoken of in reverent or proud tones, with people counting how close or far removed, by the numbers, they are to Usui.
I never felt particularly drawn to this idea of lineage; it seemed externalized and overly simplified. And yet it can be important who a practitioner's teachers are. It affects the practitioner's approach in personal self-practice and shared practice with others. For teaching practitioners, it can also directly affect how Reiki teachings are passed along to students and how the teacher models the practice in her character.
Perhaps it was the "line" in lineage that threw me off. For such a holistic practice, one line seemed reductive. Teaching and learning don't follow a single-line path. The process is more dynamic and multi-dimensional, with the give and take moving in many directions, from and to multiple places, weaving together within an individual to become an ever-expanding, cohesive whole.
What we feel during a hands on healing session or a meditation is calledhibiki in Japanese. Literally, hibiki means an echo. The reason why these sensations are called hibiki/echo is because they are not real--an echo is empty, like a reflection or an illusion.
We need to experience the hibiki without labeling it. When we label hibiki we see it as real and we start to make distinctions between a good or bad hibiki, which in itself creates a dualist state of mind.
Here's something to ponder for those inetrested in hibiki and Usui's spititual practice of the system of Reiki.
