Since 2007 Green Planet Catering has been catering delicious, local food to weddings, parties, and events all over the Triangle. Serving up creative and enticing local dishes, GPC is changing the traditional perception of what catered cuisine is and should be. It's not mass-produced, frozen products from faceless producers; their food reflects the robust flavors of the local farm and natural 'zest' that comes along with the local food culture.
Green Planet Catering is a B Corporation, placing social and environmental justice at the center of their business concept. Quickly becoming decorated soldiers for good clean business, they ar e the recent winner of the 2012 Raleigh Environmental Award for Emerging Business. Chief Creator, Daniel Whittaker explains in their philosophy, "Food is our passion, sustainability is our mission, and professionalism is our approach." Daniel was honored in the Triangle Business Journal's '40 Under 40' this year.
Along with advocating strongly for local farms, markets, and NC fisheries, they also help support the small-scale biodiesel movement by partnering with Piedmont Biofuels. They run their catering vans on clean war-free fuel, whether they make it themselves or stop by the Larry's Beans Tank to fuel up. Fuel truly is both local and full-circle for Green Planet Catering.
The future is bright for GPC. They are making huge amounts of headway as they work hard fundraising for the new Blount Street revitalization project. Also, if you just want to try some of their favorite dishes at home, look for the upcoming line of pre-packaged goods hitting shelves soon. Many thanks to all at Green Planet Catering for what you are doing for tasty food and for our evolving local food culture.

Circle City Books & Music
Pittsboro's new page-lover's haven
Myles Friedman and his partner, Virginia Chambers have been loyal, long-time users of Piedmont's B100
As soon as you step into Circle City Books & Music, owner Myles Friedman greets you with a warm smile from under his horn-rimmed readers. The walls of each of the four rooms are covered ceiling to floor with books and music. With a wide variety of all genres including rare and first editions, Circle City Books also has an extensive collection of publications and authors local to Chatham County and North Carolina. From time to time, they also have guest speakers visit for readings and signings.
Friedman is also the author of The Bookshop Blog, a journal as well as open forum for what life is like managing the store and constantly learning about new books, authors, and music. Friedman has put endless amounts of time, work and travel into making this store what it is today .A wonderful addition to historic downtown Pittsboro, Circle City Books & Music continues to develop as a part of the culture of this bustling mini-metropolis.
