Loss and grief is universal and everyone deals with grief differently at home and in the workplace. There are many losses that emanate from your workplace relationships - I have helped staff deal with the death of co-workers that have happened suddenly over the week-end, a CEO who had a heart attack at their desk and was found by their secretary, a work crew who died on the job through electrocution, and critical incidents that arise from bank robberies or horrific accidents that happened because of the lack of safety violations.
None of us is immune to the thought of "Can it happen here?" with unexplainable workplace violence and dismissed employees "going postal" and threatening the work site with guns....
This month we will focus on "How to Handle Loss and Grief in the Workplace."
