Dear Parents:

We have been busy this summer. One of our aims has been bolstering security. We will do so with heightened personal attention, a signature of our community. Beginning on Wednesday, August 28, at 8:30 after drop off until 2:15 at pickup, we will limit driving access to campus to the central entrance off Cavalier Drive. Beth Thomas, one of our long time security employees, will greet visitors and gladly direct people unfamiliar with the campus. We will issue identifying decals to our parents and students to expedite passage past the Welcome Station. Please note that we have cut a road through from the Middle School entrance to the Lower School oval. Gates will control access to this connecting road: they will be open only between 8:30 and 2:15, when all campus entrances but the central entrance are closed.

To allow visitors to each academic building to be recognized personally, receptionists have been relocated to offices in which they will see and greet each visitor. We have moved our security director, Danny Thomas, to an office in the administrative suite in the Upper School and hired a full time armed retired state trooper, Robert Seawright, to serve the Lower and Middle Schools as a second armed and well trained security officer. Mr. Thomas has close relationships with Greenville City police officers, especially Lieutenant Jeff Long. That mutual respect does a great deal of good for our community.

We have taken several measures to elevate security, both physical and emotional. We have made physical changes to Lower School classrooms to heighten security. We have posted large campus maps in key locations on campus to direct you. We also have installed emergency phones with a direct 24-7 line to security personnel. Additionally, we will implement an augmented training and practice schedule so that all personnel will be instantly familiar with procedures in the event of emergencies and or intrusions.

Maps are currently being installed and will be located in the following locations:

• US Front Entrance (Wall)
• MS Front Entrance (Wall)
• LS Front Entrance (Wall)
• MS - Back Entrance from MS Atrium toward Achievement Center (Pole/LED Lighted)
• Auditorium/Back of LS (Wall)
• LS Commons Area toward McCall Field House (Pole/LED Lighted)
• McCall Field House - Trophy Case Corridor (Wall/LED Lighted)

Call Boxes are located in the following locations:

• Cavalier Training Center - Next to Front Door Entrance
• Carson Stadium Press box - to right of the concessions stand window overlooking practice field
• Baseball Concession Stand Window - on the wall overlooking the parking lot

These call boxes join the existing call box outside of the Lower School lunch room towards the chapel.
