Read our Blog about a new study which suggests that eating a Mediterranean diet with additional extra virgin olive oil or nuts could reverse conditions that trigger heart disease.

ENTERTAINING AND HOLIDAY CHEER WITH OLIVE OIL

As the holidays approach, we look forward to breaking bread with family members and loved ones. Naturally, our extra virgin olive oils - in particular, our Limited Reserve - play a variety of roles in our holiday entertaining and celebrations.

We use our oils to make appetizers and dips for holiday hors d'oeuvres, like crostini or garlicky  aioli. Or, we'll dress it up for dipping crusty, homemade artisan bread - look for our favorite olive oil dipping pairings later this month!

At dinner, we'll pass a bottle of one of our oils for guests to drizzle on roasted vegetables like Brussels sprouts. And, this year, we might even use our oil to wow guests with a unique martini from the acclaimed New York restaurant Saxon + Parole. We've listed some more of our favorite holiday recipes below and, no doubt, many of you will discover your own enjoyable and delicious uses.

Not hosting this holiday season? You can still share the joy of our extra virgin olive oils with friends and family. Instead of the usual bottle of Cabernet or Chardonnay that many people bring to a party, we'll show up on someone's doorstep with a bottle of extra virgin olive oil. We've created a gift guide for you with some of our very favorite host gifts to pair with our Limited Reserve extra virgin olive oil.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year - and see you back in 2016!

DISHES FOR HOLIDAY ENTERTAINING
Olive 7 Ways
The traditional dirty martini is a salty concoction with a splash of olive brine. The cocktail gurus at New York's Saxon + Parole have given the  dirty martini a major upgrade. Among other things: Out goes the brine and in comes a few drops of good olive oil on top. It's served with a dish of olives. Prepare this cocktail with our Arbosana for some fresh tomato and almond notes.

Aioli

Aioli is a traditional  Provenal sauce which is, in effect, a garlic mayonnaise. It's used to accompany seafood, potatoes, and vegetables, among other dishes. You could also use it as a dipping sauce for something like sweet potato fries. Our Everyday Fresh  oil would be a good choice to prepare this aioli.

Cranberry Pesto Crostini

This festive pesto - from the Cranberry Marketing Committee -  includes dried cranberries, basil, walnuts, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and extra virgin olive oil. It's served atop a cracker or sliced artisan bread with a dollop of goat cheese or cream cheese. Try our fruity Arbequina for the pesto.

Roast Rack of Lamb with Fig-Port Wine Sauce

The nuanced fig and port wine sauce in this special-occasion dish heightens the lamb's flavor. Before going into the oven, the meat is rubbed with a paste made from olive oil, fresh rosemary, garlic, mustard, and fresh thyme. Our Everyday Fresh would be good for the paste.

Bacon-Wrapped Tenderloin Roast

This showstopper roast - from the meat experts at Snake River Farms - will no doubt wow your guests. The bacon wrapping lends a subtle smokey flavor to the roast. While it's in the oven, the roast is basted regularly with our peppery Miller's Blend. Once carved, you could drizzle each slice with additional oil to draw out the flavor of the beef.
