Lynwood Walk and Roll Wednesday

Lynwood W&R The cold and rain didn't dampen the spirits at Lynwood Elementary School in Novato as they held their first Walk and Roll Wednesday in Novato.

The students loved the pencils, stickers, stamps and other goodies that were distributed.  Thanks to the volunteer parents who stepped forward to organize their first event.  They are looking forward to continuing throughout the school year.

City Cycle of Marin Donates Time to Repair Bikes

city cycles

City Cycle of Marin staff of professional technicians is conducting a safety check and making repairs to donated bike collected by students of Mill Valley and Kent Middle School last spring.  The technician's time and bike parts are a welcomed donation to the Safe Routes to School program. Once the bikes are all safe to ride they will be donated to students in the Canal area in 2015.

Thank you City Cycle of Marin for your continued support!

Travel with Care Campaign

Travel with care

People for Bikes has launched a new campaign to urge all road users to travel with care. The Travel With Care campaign is aimed at humanizing people on bikes and encouraging better behavior among drivers and bike riders. They want to inspire the general public to see every bike rider as a neighbor, friend or family member-just a normal person who chooses to bike.

In addition to humanizing bicyclists, the campaign's message is built around bettering behavior by both people in cars and on bikes by asking them to travel with care and to "melt icy relations on the road." Read more

BIKESAFE Online Resource

An updated online version of FHWA's BIKESAFE:  Bicycle Safety Guide and Countermeasure Selection System has been released.  It provides practitioners with the latest information available for improving bicyclist safety and mobility.  The online tools also provide the user with a list of possible engineering, education, and enforcement treatments to improve bicycle safety and/or mobility based on user input regarding a specific bike safelocation.
BIKESAFE is comprised of four sections:  a guide of basic information, specific countermeasure details, case studies, and an expert system tool for countermeasure selection.  It is among the many tools being unveiled as part of the DOT's "Safer People, Safer Streets" initiative to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
