Summer is half over. Hard to believe.... We cannot wait

for this weekend! It's our 15th Annual Quassy Family Day for northwest corner licensed families. Wow!!!

Have you checked out our website recently? Our homepage carries lots of great information. There are articles on the new statewide pre-licensing training curriculum, some up-to-date info on brain development and a brief on the impact of trauma on developing brains - just to name a few.

Have you ever considered the impact fathers have on children? DCF's Fatherhood Engagement Leadership Teams (FELT) are active across the state helping to establish better relationships with men whose children are involved in CT Child Welfare. Check out the free all-day conference opportunity on August 14 to learn more about the impact fathers have and the substantial impact of fatherlessness on children's welfare. And see below for the 3rd Annual Dads Matter Too! Community Day and 5K happening in September.

Connecticut's own Youth Excellence Project (YEP) is a program for male youth ages 13-17 who are in foster care, congregate care, an independent living facility in Connecticut or who have been adopted from foster care. Participating youth partake in monthly activities from January leading up to a weeklong adventure trip in the Channel Islands National Park in Santa Barbara, CA in August. The mission of YEP is to empower youth who have endured significant life challenges to experience success, navigate life obstacles, and emerge as adults committed to the betterment of society. 2nd Annual College and Career Fair

Save the date! We are hosting our 2nd Annual College and Career Fair on September 26th at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. All Connecticut high school youth in out-of-home care are invited to explore career options and visit with college recruiters. Once again we will be offering an inspiring keynote speaker and morning workshops followed by a resource fair.

Be on the lookout for signups in late August!
