December 18, 2013

Happy Holidays everyone! We hope you and your families enjoy your holiday celebrations - and for our Jewish friends - we hope your Hanukkah celebrations were everything you hoped they would be!

Holiday time can be stressful for caregiver families and especially for children and youth in out-of-home care.  Please avail yourselves of the resources in this newsletter to help make your season brighter and more fun.

We all look forward to a New Year filled with productive changes, renewed enthusiasm and energy, and positive growth and healing in the children we all serve.

Wishing you a New Year filled with new joys, new hopes, and new beginnings!

Star of the Month
Star of the Month
Each month one of our member agencies feature a "star" whose service to children in foster care deserves special recognition.

Stars receive a small gift from FAM and a certificate of appreciation from the nominating agency.  This month, we share a family from our partners at the Department of Children and Families' Waterbury office.

Dear Iris and Angel Rodriguez,

The Department of Children and Families is recommending your fine foster family for the FAM award as the "Star of the Month" for the month of December 2013.

You and your family have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the care and nurture of the 5 foster children in your home.

You have taken on the immense challenge of parenting numerous children with multiple complex issues, and helped them to blossom beyond all expectations.

Two sets of sibling (a sibling set of three, and a set of two) have been nurtured and grown exponentially through your intensive efforts with the children, providers, and DCF.

All of this is coupled with the good news of your intention to adopt all 5 foster children!

You have displayed a high standard of care that should be model for all foster and adoptive homes that persistent efforts through sheer hard work have transformed these children into having a bright future. We appreciate and celebrate all that you have done not only for DCF but for these children. The kindness in your hearts is easily seen when we look at your family.   You are truly amazing and we celebrate you today with this "Star of the Month".

CONGRATULATIONS!
