Health Literacy Out Loud is 100! One hundred podcast interviews, that is. This is a big deal to me.
While I long had a notion of interviewing others, it took a lot of learning and help (and yes, some dollars) to make Health Literacy Out Loud come alive.
One hundred podcasts later, this series includes interviews with researchers, teachers, practitioners, policy makers, and other well-known health literacy experts. It also includes interviews with those you might not know but who have so much to teach about health literacy. They include community health workers, adult learners, journalists, poets, lawyers, and so many others.
Health Literacy Out Loud is my way of sharing their wisdom with you. Thanks for being enthusiastic and loyal podcast listeners. I look forward to producing and hosting many, many more episodes of Health Literacy Out Loud.
Here's what else is new in Health Literacy Consulting.

HLC How-To
|
Podcasts are like radio shows in that they have informational or entertaining audio content. But unlike radio, podcast listeners choose when, where, and how to hear these shows. This month's HLC How-To Tip looks at reasons you might consider producing podcasts as a way to communicate important health messages.

The Health Literacy Hero for August: MHQP (Massachusetts Health Quality Partners)
MHQP is a non-profit, broad-based coalition that not only provides clinicians with reliable information about quality of care but also communicates this data to the public in ways they can access, use, and understand. MHQP is a long-time health literacy champion. I know this for a fact as I have worked with them for years to create many of its user-friendly print and online materials. Learn more about MHQP at www.mhqp.org.

You are welcome to use the official Health Literacy Month logo (to the left) and my image of a Health Literacy Hero (above). Email me if you want file(s) for either or both of these graphics. HL News
| Institute of Medicine, Roundtable on Health Literacy. As described on the IOM website, "The Health Literacy Roundtable brings together leaders from academia, industry, government, foundations and associations, and representatives of patient and consumer interests who work to improve health literacy."
I have learned so much from attending public meetings of the IOM's Health Literacy Roundtable. And by reading many, if not all, of their discussion and commissioned papers. You can learn this way, too.
