India elephants Welcome! I'm just back from a

remarkable trip to India--not only teaching about health literacy but also, and more importantly, learning about health communication worldwide.

Trips to far-away places offer many lessons. An important one to me is that patients and providers everywhere want efficient and effective ways to communicate about health. Yet no one has figured out all the ways to do that.

What does this have to do with elephants? Well honestly, not a lot. But this photo does give a glimpse of our amazing experience (we rode the elephant just ahead of the one on the right). And elephants also remind us to not forget. In this case, to always keep in mind why health literacy matters.

Wishing you a year filled with many memorable adventures. As you requested, here's what's new in Health Literacy Consulting
