HO 11-12 Welcome!

Health Literacy Month 2012 has come and gone. Now it's time to think about what's next. For me, this includes going to India to speak about and, even more importantly, learn about health literacy there.

There are a world of ways that people communicate about health. I've long been interested in what we can learn from others. When it comes to health literacy, what are you wondering about? Please let me know.

Thanks for all you do. Here's what's new in Health Literacy Consulting

HLC How-To
Scientific Study Design. I recently had the honor of attending NIH's workshop for journalists, Medicine in the Media. It was a tremendously informative experience and I learned a lot about ways to communicate scientific studies to the general public.

Since it is your job and mine to communicate scientific data in ways that others can understand, we need to be certain that the information we are presenting is correct. From the best to most "iffy," this month's How-To Tip is a quick overview about scientific study design.

Many of our students work in health marketing, patient advocacy, public relations, media relations, and various other communication roles in healthcare related industries. Learn more about BU's MSHC online program and how you can also become a health communicator.
Thanks for subscribing to What's New in Health Literacy Consulting. Given my upcoming trip to India, this is the last What's New e-newsletter for 2012. The next one will be in early January. I'm sure to share highlights of what promises to be an amazing adventure.

Even though I'm a world away, please forward this newsletter to all who care about clearly communicating health information. And encourage them to subscribe for themselves. Let's connect again in January 2013.
