rate lock logo  Tired of Increasing Auto Insurance Rates?

We are excited about Erie Rate Lock, that's why we put billboards up around the area.  So, you are probably asking what is Erie Rate Lock all about?  This new revolutionary coverage option is only offered through Erie Insurance Agents and not offered with any other auto insurance carrier.  You now have the option to lock in your rate on auto insurance and protect yourself from inflationary rate increases and your rates won't increase due to accidents either.  Your rate could potentially stay the same for 5 years, 10 years, or longer.  the only way your rate will change is by making one of the following qualifying changes:

1.  Change vehicles

2.  Change your location address

3.  Change drivers

It's that simple.  We think your auto insurance should protect you, not punish you.  Give us a call today to discuss rate lock and find out if rate lock makes sense for you.  Visit www.auto-rate-lock.com for more information.

car pic   Need An ID Card?

We get calls from our customers asking for replacement ID cards for their vehicles.  Did you know that you can print your own Erie Insurance ID cards online?  This is a big help to our policyholders that  need one after we are closed for the day or on a weekend.  Simply go to www.erieinsurance.com and click on "Access My Account".  You will then need to enter your policy number, name, and date of birth.  After submitting your information you will have access to your auto policy summary and ID cards.  If you need help, call Erie customer service at 800-458-0811 x 3000 and they will walk you thru it.

What To Do After An Accident?car crash
You hear brakes squealing, tires screeching and then the sound of shattering glass.  These aren't sounds that anyone wants to hear, but car accidents happen all the time.  How you react after an accident can make the process of getting back on your feet much easier.  So keep calm and start picking up the pieces.  Here is a checklist to keep in mind:
Get out of the way:  If the accident happened in the middle of the street, move to the shoulder or another safe location to check the extent of damages.
Check for injuries:  Are you ok? Your passengers?  The people in the other car?  Safety should be your number one priority.  If you are in doubt, call 911.
Call the police:  If there are injuries, extensive damage, property damage or you need help moving your cars out of the roadway, call the police.  Afterward, make sure you get a copy of the report.
Exchange insurance information:  So you can make a claim, make sure you get the other driver's name, phone number, address, license plate number, make, model and year of the vehicle and insurance company and policy number** Sometimes the police will tell you they will collect all the necessary information and then do a report.  Make sure you at the very least get the other drivers name, phone number, insurance company name and policy number at the accident scene, as it can take up to 30 days for the police to complete their report.**  No need to discuss who is at fault in the accident.  The claims investigation will clear that up.
Document:  Take careful note of the scene.  If you have a smart phone or camera with you, pictures can be a big help.  If there are witnesses, don't interview them yourself, just get their name and number.
Call your Agent:  Call us anytime and we will get the ball rolling on your claim right away.  And that's it- we will take it from there.  By keeping a cool head and following these simple steps, you will have a great foundation to a quick, painless claim.
home claim  When to Submit a Home Claim
More important than knowing how to submit a claim is knowing when to submit a claim and what type of events are covered under your home policy.  First it is critical to understand the purpose of insurance, which is designed to cover losses that are sudden, accidental or catastrophic (such as fire, theft, or natural disaster).  Everyday maintenance, for example is not covered by your insurance policy.  Likewise, damage that results from lack of maintenance may not be covered either.  Fixing leaky pipes or an aging roof, for example, are not sudden or accidental occurrences and so the homeowner must arrange for these types of repairs before they cause major damage.  At the same time, if a homeowner does all they can to winterize their home, then expenses related to a burst pipe will typically be covered.  The more a homeowner can do to prevent serious damage to their property through regular maintenance, the better off they will be if a sudden or accidental loss occurs.  If you are faced with a loss, make sure you initiate the claims process right away and retain any documentation of the loss and related expenses.  If you have any questions about when to submit a claim or about your policy, contact us.
