SPLASH Premiere Gets High Scores

Greg 2011

The network's "Diving With the Stars" delivered 8.8 million viewers and a healthy 2.6 rating among adults 18-49. Splash came in second place at 8 p.m., beating the second week of Fox's Hell's Kitchen and was topped only in the hour by CBS' NCIS. The numbers were big enough to make Splash the top unscripted series debut on broadcast TV since Fox's The X Factor first premiered in 2011. It also doubles the rating of Fox's quickie version of the same concept (Stars in Danger: The High Dive) that was hustled out in January before Splash could hit the air.

Chen Gongchen

Bruce Wigo recently visited with Chen Gongcheng and his wife, Yang Yuqiong, In Pasadena, California, to learn first hand about the history of swimming in the People's Republic of China.  Coach Chen and his wife were among the swimmers who made up the first National Team in the newly formed People's Republic of China in the early 1950s. Frank Heckl's blazer Frank Heck

Dr. Frank Heckl was one of the Ambassadors on the historic Friendship Through Sports Exchange to the People's Republic of China, in 1973.  This blazer was part of the official uniform worn by the team.  ISHOF will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of this historic exchange at this year's induction ceremony with many of the participants from both the USA and China attending.

What would Ryan Lochte Do?

Set to Air in April, Swimming Star Ryan Lochte will star in his own Reality TV show on the "E" network. E! Entertainment president Suzanne Kolb said, "He is an incredibly endearing personality who is sexy, entertaining and fun. Watching this show, I believe people will fall into three categories: they want to be him, sleep with him or mother him."
