Beginning in July, the DNA rolls out its monthly cruise night where cool cars of all makes, models, shapes and sizes cruise the streets of downtown Elgin. After the procession style cruise, owners park to show off their wheels for the public to enjoy. Read on for more info or pre-register your vehicle online.

New at the Market: Link Double Couponing

Link/EBT customers can double their shopping pleasure this season with the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market's new Link Double Couponing program. Beginning June 6, Harvest Market shoppers can swipe their Link/EBT cards at the market's information booth to receive up to an additional $20 in Link tokens to shop with per week, courtesy of a generous financial contribution from BMO Harris Bank. The Downtown Elgin Harvest Market opens on Thursday, June 6, 9 am - 2 pm at 200 N. Grove and runs every Thursday for 18 weeks through October.

Downtown Elgin Pub Crawl - Save the Date

Calling All "Ad Men" Artists

Get your creative pitches ready! DNA is now seeking tremendously talented Mad Men...and Women artists for a unique, downtown-focused art project to complement our 2013 DNA Awards Gala. We are seeking artists to create vintage 1950s or 60s inspired advertisements for current Downtown Elgin businesses similar to the ones produced by the ad agency on the hit AMC TV series "Mad Men." The public will help select the best "creatives" at a juried art exhibit in September. The top 5 artists will then be invited to our Awards Gala this October to pitch their work for cash prizes. Elgin Valley Fox Trot: 36 Years and Running!

Ready, Set, Trot! The 36th Annual Elgin Valley Fox Trot is on Saturday May 25, with all races starting at the intersection of Kimball and Douglas. This event offers races for all levels of competition, including a 10 mile run, a 5k run and the 2 mile Walk for a Cause. The race is endorsed by the Chicago Runners Association (CARA). Race fees range from $12 to $55. Feeling inspired on Saturday morning? You can still register on-site before the race!

Chicago Street Redevelopment Public Meeting

The City of Elgin wants residents to share their thoughts, questions, and ideas about future development for the Chicago Street Metra station and nearby areas as part of a transit-oriented design effort. The next public meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 5 from 6-8 pm at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. FUMC Builds House for Joplin, MO Family
...in the church basement

The F-5 tornado that devastated the town of Joplin, MO in 2011 left many families without their homes. To respond to the high demand for better living accommodations, Elgin's First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland, is building a house in the basement of its church. FUMC volunteers will drive the partially assembled house Missouri, finishing the assembly on-site to provide one family with a new home. FUMC has gotten great press on this project. Third Annual EPH Beer Fest

For one glorious day, beer fans of Elgin will be in hop heaven. Elgin Public House's annual Beer Fest returns on Saturday, June 15 from noon to 4 pm at EPH, 219 E. Chicago. Eighteen breweries have already confirmed their participation, and the list is sure to grow! Sampling packages range from $25 to $75, with each level offering great perks. EPD's Security Thru Surveillance

The Elgin Police Department is pleased to announce Security Through Surveillance (STS), an innovative initiative in which the police department will partner with businesses and homeowners to prevent and solve crimes through the use of technology.
EPD will host a specialized four-hour training program for businesses and homeowners on Saturday, June 22 from 8 am-12 pm at the Elgin Police Department, 151 Douglas.
