On the Road with "Pop-Up" Harvest Markets

Before the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market gets popping this June, DNA is taking the Harvest Market on a May road trip by offering two "Pop Up" Markets to preview the upcoming season. Pop Up Markets will take place on Thursday, May 9 from 10 am-1 pm, at the newly opened Alexian Brothers Women & Children's Hospital in Hoffman Estates, and again on Thursday, May 16 from 10 am-1 pm inside the pavilion of the Grand Victoria Casino, 250 S. Grove.
The Pop Up Markets will be a sampler version of our normal market, which opens Thursday, June 6, 9 am - 2 pm at 200 N. Grove Avenue in Downtown Elgin and runs every Thursday for 18 weeks thru October. |

Marching Thru Time: Elgin's July 4th Parade
Applications for the 2013 City of Elgin 4th of July Parade - Presented by Sherman Health are being accepted now thru Friday, May 24. The 4th parade steps off Thursday, July 4 at 9 am at Slade and Douglas Avenues and ends at Highland and Douglas Avenues.
The theme of this year's 4th of July Parade is "Elgin Marching Thru Time," a celebration of the City of Elgin from its founding to its bright, bold future. All parade participants - not just floats - are encouraged to dress up their entries in historic time period appropriate decor and costumes by decades from the 1800's to the present to the year 2525 and beyond! EPCAC Community Outreach Event
Meet with Elgin Police Department Representatives on Saturday, May 4 and learn about how the EPD responds to the needs of our community. Get the inside scoop on how evidence is collected, learn about EPD investigation units, explore tactical response equipment and more. ESO Season Finale: The Lark Ascending

This weekend's concerts by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra feature Andrew Grams, the last guest conductor vying to become the ESO's next music director, and ESO concertmaster, Isabella Lippi, as soloist. Performances will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, May 5 at 2:30 pm at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way. EACVB's 6th Annual Mayor's Luncheon

Kick-off National Tourism Week at the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's 6th Annual Mayors' Luncheon on Monday, May 6 from 11 am-1 pm at Grand Victoria Casino, 250 S. Grove.

Preservation Month in Elgin

This year's National Preservation Month theme is "See! Save! Celebrate!" In honor of this theme, the Elgin Heritage Commission encourages you to explore Elgin's rich heritage by visiting historic places and attending the huge selection of Preservation Month events throughout May.
The Mayor's Awards for Preservation to recognize outstanding contributors to Elgin's heritage is Tuesday, May 7, 6-8 pm at Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division St.

Elgin's Green Expo at The Centre

The 5th Annual Elgin's Green Expo is Friday, May 10, 7-9 pm and Saturday, May 11, 9am-4 pm at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. Celebrate earth, wind, fire, water and spirit with the largest aquarium stocked with fish from the Fox River, Native American traditions, regional birds of prey, plus music, exhibits and events to help you conserve and preserve our community.
