Attitude in Adversity

"Let this mind be IN YOU which was also in Christ Jesus." Philippians 2:5

There's an old saying, "attitude determines altitude." In other words, a positive, faith-filled attitude will cause you to rise higher in life, but a negative, self-defeated attitude will only drag you down.

When we face adversity, our attitude affects the outcome. Are you going to treat people right even when we're being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? So many people get all bent out of shape and start complaining when things don't go their way, but that kind of attitude only closes the doors to God's miracle working power. The Bible says that faith is what pleases God. Understand that He's trying to work in your life. He's trying to get you prepared for a better life, but you got to stay on His side. You've got to stand strong and fight the good fight of faith! Like David, Joseph and Job did.

If you are going through a difficult time today, keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. We all have goals that we want to accomplish and situations we believe will turn around. But so often when it's taking a long time, the negative thoughts come that say, "It's never going to change." "You're never going to get well." "You're never going to get out of debt." "That child is never going to straighten up." If we're not careful, we'll get discouraged and end up just settling where we are and not allowing God to stretch us and grow us.

Many times, we miss out on God's best because we gave up too soon. Just another five minutes and there would have been deliverance. Just another few days of believing, another few weeks of doing the right thing, or another few months of staying in faith, and we would see His promise come to pass.

Hebrews 10:35, "Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward," tells us that if we will stay connected in faith, if we will keep believing, keep hoping, keep doing the right thing, God promises there will be deliverance.

Until then say, "Lord I choose to have a positive, faith-filled attitude. I choose to trust You even when things don't make sense in my human reasoning. I know You have a good plan for me and trust that You are working all things out for my good!

With an attitude of TRUST,
