Deal with It and Move On!

Do you read blogs?  Are you a regular subscriber to a few? Yes?  Me too.  I signed up for a couple of daily blogs, several weekly blogs and even some monthly blogs. I learn a lot from some of my favorites and I delete a lot when I am really busy.

This morning one of my favorites, Leadership Freak, told us that the secret to creating the future was letting go of the past.  We should use the past as a lesson, but realize that we cannot change it. In other words...

Deal with it then move on!

I like that advice and I am ready and eager to do just that, but before I move on, my nice, polite, well brought up girl manners tell me I must first apologize.

United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties has not been doing a great job at recognizing, thanking, appreciating and caring for our customers.  Who are our customers you ask?

Our customers are YOU, our donors and supporters.  There are a lot of reasons for this, but if I tried to list them they would just sound like excuses.

The truth is we get so caught up in our day to day duties that we have put that piece off, hoping we would get to it tomorrow. Sometimes we have gotten to it, but truthfully, too many times we have let thanking you drop. It has not been made a priority. From all of us, I apologize.

There, I have examined our past, learned from it and now I am ready to move on to a bright new future of wonderful customer appreciation.

But wait... I'm not sure how?

Sure, there are a lot of things the UW-GWP staff does know we are missing and we have made a commitment to improve. The only thing is  there are a lot of you. Do you all want to be thanked the same way? I don't think so.

Our plan is to continue working to ensure that we are wisely investing your donations in the future of the people of our communities. We will work to keep you informed. We will work to keep you involved. This is our commitment to you.

Thanks for listening!

 Maureen Nelson
