NOVEMBER 2014 ELECTION - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS - WIFT HOUSTON

Dear WIFT Members,

The WIFT-Houston Nominating Committee seeks your help.

It is again time to elect officers and board members.  As an all-volunteer organization, we are counting on you to help guide WIFT-Houston into the future.

We continue to develop new leadership as the organization evolves to meet the needs of our growing industry and community in the ever-changing technological environs of the 21st Century.  Each year according to bylaws we conduct our board election process and annual meeting.  It would be very helpful to know who among our voting members might be interested in running for a board position. If you aren't sure and have questions, just ask.  To be a Voting Member you must be a Professional (Full) Member (not an Associate or Student Member), and dues must be current with proper credentials on file.

The Election Two-Step

The nominating committee will assist with identifying members in good standing for potential nominees to run for open positions and will contact each  member recommended by our members to determine eligibility and  which position best suits the interest and availability of the member so recommended.

The next step is for you to think about whom to recommend or suggest for the open positions as an officer or at-large board member.  You may also recommend (volunteer) yourself.

If you are a member in good standing, either Professional or Corporate, and have an interest in holding a board position for the upcoming two-year term, please continue reading. You are eligible regardless of whether you are a long-standing member or joined only recently.  However, we ask that you consider running only if you have the extra time to devote, can contribute to the process of sustaining our mission and goals, and can regularly contribute to the operational process of the organization.

  ~~~~~~~~~
Please note that Associate Members,* Student Members, and Honorary Members are not eligible to run for a board position or to vote in the election.  Associate Members who think they might be eligible to advance to Professional membership may apply by furnishing a complete resume of your work history in the industry for which you received an income   ~~~~~~~~~~
Prospective Candidates
If you are interested in being a Candidate for the Board, please email admin@wift-houston.org by October 24, 2014.  We will need your bio and resume, along with a paragraph of why you would like to hold a board position, and how you believe your skills, background, talents, personality, and/or fundraising abilities will aid in the advancement of the goals of organization.
If you would like to nominate another member, or members, please be sure that they are aware that you are nominating them and that they would be willing to serve if elected.  Then send their name to admin@wift-houston.org by October 24, 2014.  The committee will contact each nominee to determine their willingness to run and will ask them to provide the necessary bio, resume, and statement as described above.
A slate of candidates recommended by the Nominating Committee
will then be presented on a November 2014 Ballot and "voting eligible" members will then be asked to help us complete this year's election process by approving the slate.  If there are more candidates than open positions, those candidates receiving the most votes for a particular position will be elected to the board for a two-year term.
Voting members: When you receive your Ballot, please vote promptly.
